Hey everyone x
My 12 month old has just fallen off the sofa head first and fallen onto the wooden floor. I was in the same room but had my back to him & didn’t see the fall but I heard it :((( It all happened so quickly, he fried immediately for a couple for minutes then calmed down.
He then fell asleep on me about 20 mjnutes later which given the time it happened was half an hour before usual bedtime isn’t super unusual but also very rare for him to fall asleep on me these days and with the TV on rather than doing his usual bedtime routine in the bedroom.
I’ve called 111 and they’ve advised just to keep an eye on him and only be concerned if he vomits, changes colour not responding etc. hard to know what to do as he is now sleeping. Do I just wake him every few hours to check? Anyone else been through this and can offer any advice, I’m so upset and can’t believe this has happened 😔😔😔

Yeah this happened with my first and the bed 🤦🏻♀️
Unlike adults the advice is to let babies sleep after a bump so just keep checking him and make sure that none of the things 111 told you about change xx

I had really similar to my boy when he was about 6 months old, he fell from the bed and landed on his head (launched himself backwards out of my hands) as we were getting him ready for bed, we got him calmed down and he fell straight asleep himself, and was absolutely fine!
Thanks for your replies 🥺 I’m just worried as it’s a hard wooden floor but I can’t see marks/bruises or feel any lumps xx

It’s always a bit scary when they’re so little and they hurt themselves, just keep him close and check when you can xx

Our baby boy fell off the bed onto the floor face planted at ten days old, then fell off a sofa in caravan on holiday at about 9 months, then fell off my bed about 1
He cried for few seconds each one and then was okay

We were advised to wake him every hour, if he couldn't be roused easily then to take him to a&e....it was scary as hell but he was fine. Sleepless night for me tho!
Hope all ok x
when they say wake them would that be a make sure both eyes open and look at me and keep him up for a few minutes thing or how did you do it? I’ve never had to wake him before during the night, he usually does that all by himself 2, 3 times most nights… So not sure what would be normal or unnormal for him in that situation?? X

Hi! Usually babies will let you know if something is wrong! Babies are VERY durable and flexible, like little rubber bands. (Obv too much with make them snap and break right?). If there’s no bruising, no dents, cuts or visible signs he should be fine. TBIs DO happen from falls but usually they are fine if they’ve only fallen off something about the same height as them. (Like 2ft) ANYTHING higher than that I’d keep an eye out for major signs. But you can let him sleep! If he was easy to calm and no tenderness etc, he’s a fine baby! Just clumsy little nuggets like all babies 🤣
