Hi all. I've got a beautiful baby boy (1 yo) who I adore beyond measure. I know he's very very young, so I suppose I'm asking this question to just get clued up and a head start...
There's a lot of heartbreaking and alarming research on men and mental health conditions. I can't bare the thought of my son dealing with something like that, but know that so much is out of my control. However, I'd like to do some learning on how you can support mental health from a young age, so hes comfortable talking about his feelings and so on. Are there any books or resources that are recommended in supporting mental health in children and growth?
I'm so sorry if any of this has been worded insensitivity. Not my intention at all and I'm always open on learning if certain terms or assumptions arent right. But know my intention is just to find out how to protect my little one as best as I can. X

There are lots of books and research out there a quick google search will give you 10s if not 100s, you may also be able to apply for/do a mental health Level 2 course for free through the national training/levy. If not then are a few online that are relatively inexpensive. Mental health awareness month is May so there will also be lots of free event online then. I think this year's topic is community.
Honestly, though, the most important thing for any child is to grow up feeling loved and having adults they can count on, trust and talk to.

My son really likes the Colour Monster books. They are stories and relate emotions to colours in a really simple way. Even now at age 3 he will say mummy today I feel a bit blue/ Green/ red. Etc.
