I had my first last year in January and due with my second July 23rd. I wanted to breastfeed but my body just couldn’t do it (it seemed), I bought all kinds of supplements, snacks, drinks, you name it, and it just didn’t work. Even consulted with a lactation nurse. Anybody know if there is something different I could try? I want to give breastfeeding a shot again.

I breastfed for just under 18 months. The best advice I was given from my doula was that your body takes 72 hours to adjust supply to your babies demand. So if you feel like you don’t have enough, persevere and it will get easier. So many people I know stopped after 3 months as there’s a big growth spurt, push through, keep baby latched regularly and it gets much easier. To know they are getting milk, I was checking for enough wet diapers each day.

First few weeks either pump or breast feed baby every 2 hours no longer. After breastfeeding, pump an additional 5-10 minutes.
Also staying hydrated. Body armor, coconut water, pineapple juice, anything to hydrate you. Stay away from Powerade and Gatorade. They actually destroy your supply. Also Oreos help. Eggs!!! Chicken broth!! Eat so much protein and so much snacks. Especially when pumping or breastfeeding

I found staying hydrated is key. But as others have said you body makes what it thinks it needs to make. So if you’re nursing, follow a session by pumping. Or if you’re exclusively pumping, throw in a power pump. The supply increase foods and supplements I found never did anything for me. It was always water and expressing more that did the trick (whether baby was cluster feeding or I threw in extra pump sessions)

You should power pump for a week once you notice your supply dipping. You should also be eating good food, meats, carbs and veggies and fruits, drinking lots of water.

Just so you know if you're not already aware, some teas or supplements use Fenugreek, this can help boost your supply or it can cause you to loose it, it's one of those things that it either really helps or hurts. There are cookies and supplements sold at Target that are specifically fenugreek free.

I spent like $200 on the snacks, teas, and other stuff and gave it a chance for 3 months and it did nothing for me 🥲
