I am 29+3 today and I was already a high risk pregnancy due to the fact we went through IVF and I also had low pap-a. We had another growth scan today ( we had to have them because last scan he dropped from 50th percentile to 18th) well now he is 9th! Last scan (2 weeks ago) it was the FL that was low but this time it’s the abdominal which is what they are more concerned about!
I am already high risk for preeclampsia etc because of low pap-a so this has now amplified it. They’ve checked my placenta blood flow etc and at the moment it looks fine but it’s all just very high risk and I’m being monitored even more closely than I was before! I’m a bit shaken up and just worried.

So the low papp-a is the likely cause. It doesn’t just affect the preeclampsia risk but the growth of baby too. Low Papp-a causes defects in the placental blood vessels which is why they keep a really close eye on things when it’s picked up.
It’s reassuring that the blood flow is good. The best thing you can do is try to enjoy what you can and keep a really close eye on babies movements. If in any doubt, even the tiniest doubt make sure to call the hospital

thank you. I’m just so scared

Hey Steph, I am 28+3 and I’ve also been told the same unfortunately as well as fetal growth restriction due to increased pressure in the umbilical cord. I like you have low Papp A and have been on aspirin since about 13 weeks of pregnancy. My numbers are a lot lower than yours in terms of centiles so I wouldn’t worry too much at this time. I’ve read a lot of success stories on this so I’m sure it’s going to be okay. My story is a lot more scarier as I’ve been told I’ll need to give birth earlier potentially between 32-34 weeks😞. The fact the blood flow is good sounds reassuring and the extra monitoring is honestly so good. I’m currently being monitored 2-3x a week

hiya. Thank you so much for being so honest about it. I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Sorry, reading about me freaking out and your going through that you must think I’m a horrible person. I really am sending positive vibes your way. The more people I speak to the more positive stories I hear of SGA bubbas ending up super healthy. But I suffer with severe anxiety and it’s just managed to take hold of me now! Xx

That’s okay lovely. Don’t be so silly!! Everyone’s pregnancy journey is so different and relative. You’re not horrible at all. Thank you for the positive vibes xx I’ve heard a lot of positive stories too. I hear you on the anxiety and it’s so normal to feel like that especially in pregnancy and especially after wanting your little blessing for so long. I had a miscarriage before and a chemical pregnancy so it really is so hard. Feel free to private message if you need xxx

thank you lovely 🥰
