How old is he? Maybe he’s gassy..

Have you tried giving him a bottle while he’s in there? Or have you tried playing with him durring the day in his crib? Those might be helpful that’s what helped my daughter also letting her pick out what stuffy she wanted to cuddle with

He was born on Sunday but just got home he’s just scream he’s been feed changed and burped

My babies were overwhelmed in their next2me we had to put a Moses basket inside it for a while to let them adjust to being outside the womb
Also could be hungry again or have trapped wind x

He was just born and is used to your warmth and body protecting him. Ofc he's crying for "attention" you should be attending him, he's a newborn. Their needs and any child's needs surpass the basic things that keep them alive. If you can, ask family, friends, partner, postpartum doula to come and help. You sound overwhelmed

if they’re crying for attention then give them attention

I co slept when my newborn wouldn’t stop crying for me. It helped. But do it a safe as possible . When my kid was 7 weeks I put them on a BLOW UP MATTRESS for a bit, and it would deflate a bit through the night. don’t do that. I’m surprised nothing Happened looking back! Look up safe sleeping, if possible get a co sleeper crib thing that pulls up right to your bed. It’s a lot safer. And they will sense you are near and won’t cry as much :)

My baby is 12 days old. I have this boppy.. I put my baby’s blanket on the boppy and let him lay in it on my bed and have reading time or sing to him. It keeps him close and safe while I’m not holding him. Maybe that will help.

Newborn babies are used to being held tightly in the womb. It’s normal for you to be their comfort right now. Sleep training and self soothing will come later own. Right now they just need their mommas

Have you got a swaddle? I use the love to dream ones and they’ve been great for all 3 of my babies. When putting them down in the crib/bassinet hold them close to you as you lower them, feet touch down first followed by butt/back/head.
I also use a lot of background noise - from classical music to white/pink/brown noise which you can easily find on YouTube.
Other things you can try:
- heat pack on their mattress before you lay them down (*REMOVE BEFORE PUTTING BABY DOWN*) avoids going from warm arms to cold bed.
- same as above but a shirt of yours so it smells familiar (also remove before placing baby)
Is baby warm/cool enough?
Have they got gas or any signs of silent reflux? If they have reflux you can slightly incline the cot itself which helps so they aren’t so flat.

Lastly: Are you doing alright? Do you have help and support around you?

Don’t listen to any sleep trainers (or even our parents generation!), we as a species are biologically programmed to want to be held for at least the first three months and it’s impossible to give them too much attention/“spoil them”/“make a rod for your own back”. Some babies are just unicorn babies who will be happy to be on their own from day one, but they are not the norm and most babies are exactly like yours.

Like has been said, research how to safely co-sleep in your space. Don’t fall asleep with him on you it’s not safe. Remember if he’s fussy all of the time there could be another reason ie. reflux or silent reflux caused by maybe a tongue tie or CMPA etc.

Also I feel like the first few nights in hospital are a trick - like they sleep pretty okay the first night or so and then they’re home and crying/screaming/hard to console - it’s absolutely normal and you aren’t doing anything wrong.

Our first night last night was really tough, I didn't sleep at all between feeding and cuddling her. Tonight I've put the moses basket inside the next to me and she's been so much more settled so we've both managed to get some rest x

Avatar

Our first two nights were rough in the next to me so we got a Moses basket and has worked wonders, now wakes up every 2/3 hours during night for feed and change.
We were having to take in turns to stay up every two hours with him and were exhausted.
It’s horrible but will get better x

Ignore the judgey comments. They’re acting like they all knew it all when becoming mothers 🙄

I’m typing this sat in bed holding my baby that I had on Tuesday. I’ve been awake with him since around 1am. Yesterday was the only night that he’s gone in the next to me crib and all the other nights myself and my husband have taken it in turns holding him. It’s very normal for newborns to not like the next to me or even the Moses basket as it’s very big for them compared to what they are used to.

Some things you can try-
1.) put the Moses basket in the next to me
2.) put a muslin cloth down your top all day and place it next to them in the crib so they can smell you. Remove it once they have settled.
3.) put them in feet first so they don’t get startled.
4.) warm the bed slightly with a hot water bottle or hairdryer before putting them in.
5.) swaddle (look up how to do this safely)
6.) co sleeping. Again, look up how to do this safely

Remember, nothing lasts forever. You’ve got this!

It’s a newborn, he will want to be held 24/7 and it’s completely normal. If he cries looking for “attention”the give him attention, he needs to feel protected by their caregivers. My newborn is 4 weeks now and he is 24/7 with me, we are co-sleeping following the 7 rules as he won’t sleep in his bassinet and its natural. It’s tough but it’s not forever.

Swaddle and pacifier ?

This is really normal, your baby is used to being inside of you always feeling your warmth and heartbeat. It’s completely normal they only want to be held by you in the early days!

You are not alone! Neither of mine have slept in the next to me crib, can be fast asleep but as soon as put down will wake up and cry. I tried all sorts with my first, including putting my dirty tshirt on the crib as a sheet so it smelt like me, heating with a hot water bottle, white noise, swaddling, etc. Nothing worked. Have you got a partner at home who you can take shifts with to hold the baby while they sleep? Or someone who can come and help for a while?
It doesn't last forever and I found once I adjusted my expectations to just the 3 hr shift and got prepped with snacks/drinks/telly it wasn't so mentally draining. And if it's too much, safe co-sleeping is a great option to ensure you both get some rest.
It is bloody hard! Hoping you have some support there with you x

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?
