Following for advice with the day time sleep! My daughter is very similar - goes down and sleeps pretty well overnight but naps are a nightmare at the moment. We are probably averaging 40mins but can vary from about 20. Sometimes she will resettle if I pick her up or put her in my bed and do a similar stint, but it isn't always feasible to do that. I tried a pram nap today and it completely failed as she just screamed the whole time.
Short naps happen but as long as my LO wakes up happy (which is usually the case) I just move on with feed/play/sleep routine and try again for the next nap. One thing I found helpful for longer naps is to not pick baby up the second they are awake/making sounds. Give them a few minutes sometimes they self-settle. If not then I just pick her up to feed & play. I also cap naps at 2 hours - I’m not sure if that makes any difference but it’s been working for us so I’m not risking it by changing things haha.
@Monica yea i let her wake up and leave her a few minutes. She generally wakes up all smiles ready to play. Not always ready for a feed so we play feed play. Our days vary so we do lots of different things through the day. She has rarely ever napped more than 2hrs and is impossible if she has napped longer so on the rare occasion she does 2hrs now I wake her up.
@Klara yea night time I feed her give her change her bum give her a cuddle and lay her in bed and off she goes to sleep. During the day she only nods off in the pram or on me. She fell asleep on her dad the other day and I was well done that's an impressive feet. It only lasted 15 minutes but it was still a win. She was doing 1-2 hr naps on me. But that's seems rare now she will seem to max out at an hour. We are starting more groups of the next few weeks and they are all at 11/11.30 and she is too nosey to sleep or eat at groups so hoping we can use that to establish a lunch time feed and nap and get a decent stretch then. And then maybe she will get an hour 1-2ish everyday and then the shorter naps either side won't be so bothersome.
My girl sleeps 11/12 hours at nice and naps are soo random I can only get 1/2 decent naps a day but we have to lay with her x
Mine now sleeps about 10h at night but will nap anywhere between 15 and 50min at a time during the day and I end up having to rock him to sleep or take him for a walk. I think he averages 14h at best of sleep during the 24h. I think from what I read 3-4mo is when they start changing their sleeping patterns to more adult ones so they can struggle to move between sleep cycles. I wish I would have an answer but it’s meant to get better in time (I hope haha). Bottom line is you’re not alone! I think look out for sleep queues like rubbing eyes/face. You could also try giving a top up feed after 1.5h to see if that would help tire your baby? Or do new activities, I’ve found mine is no longer happy to just lie and play with a toy, he is keen on something more novel to get tired enough.
