Floor beds

My LG is 14 months and we’ve been considering a floor bed to help trying to get her to self settle in bed.

What’s the best floor beds ? Whats been your experience with one .

Following with interest. We have one but my two year old has never slept in it 🙈

What makes you think they'll self settle better in a floor bed? In my experience of transitioning my eldest from a cot to a toddler bed he slept worse for a while, not better. He was getting up and playing instead of sleeping.

oh really ? My hope is that she’ll eventually go and lay down herself. She randomly lays down in the floor downstairs but not in the cot . I have to rock her/ feed her to sleep and I’m hoping with the floor bed. She can just play and eventually learn that if she’s tired to go lay down. But then she’s never done this and doesn’t just sleep anywhere ..

So just wanting people’s views and advice . As when she also rolls in the cot she falls into the sides and bangs her head .

We got our floor bed for our son when he was about 20 months old. It's not helped him to self settle at all but it has helped me - i still breastfeed so I can feed him and roll away. And because I got a small double instead of losing loads of sleep each night like I was doing, I just end up sleeping in his bed after the first or second wake up. I am easily getting at least 2 / 3 hours more sleep each night but my son is a bad sleeper and always has been.

I am not sure it will really help them to self settle though. X

We put our son on the floor bed at 14 months it’s our old mattress so it’s king it’s big enough so I could lay with him. I breastfeed him to sleep and then he usually wakes up twice. My husband goes in and walk him and then put him back to sleep right now it’s showing them security that you’re there by 18 months, they should be able to self sleep
At least that’s what I read so hoping that’s the case I’ll let you know in 3 months 😂😅 he has xx a gate on his door and when he wakes he plays for almost a hour before calling for us (we watch him on the monitor) we did a Montessori type lay out so he can choose out fits and what not ( he love to choose out of 3 options 😆😂) not sure if this helps xx

We transitioned to a floor bed at 13 months. Much easier to transfer him and means I can watch tv with my partner until the first wake as once he’s asleep I can just creep out. Lowering him into the cot always woke him. He’s never got out of bed either when he wakes he just sits up and shouts mama x

I’m thinking about this too!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
