Hi mamas. I had my anatomy scan done w/ MFM today at 21 weeks. A choroid plexus cyst was detected in my daughterâs brain. The doctor assured me there are no other concerning markers of any kind, we also had previously completed NIPT screening with all low risk results. She told me that in 94% of cases where there are no other concerning markers, that the cyst dissipates on its own and there is zero clinical significance. With other markers, in can be an indicator of Trisonomy 18. She also made me swear not to Google it. She made a follow up appointment for me in 8 weeks and said she only scheduled it to prove to me that itâs gone.
Has anyone experienced this before? What was the outcome? How can I ease anxieties? I have quite a long time until the next scan and I really want to try and just enjoy pregnancy without too much worry.

24 weeks and my baby also has a cyst on her brain. Although it was stressful hearing it for the first time, I think Iâve been more anxious about her being growth restricted than anything.
Iâm pretty sure there are multiple women whose babies have had cysts, but since technology was not so advanced then they had no clue it was even there. You couldâve had a cyst as well in womb and your mother may not have known it. No need to be concerned until things are concerning. Hope this helps!

I also had this come up on my ultrasound. Iâm going to high risk for another ultrasound in two weeks instead of waiting four weeks to see my dr again. Just want some peace of mind. Most cases, it clears up before 3rd trimester. Small chance of trisonomy but it wasnât detected in my genetic scanning.
