Cracked Nipples

Hello,
Has anyone got any tips to help save my BF journey? My nipples are so cracked and sore and I’ve had to stop feeding him from the boob to try to save the but they just feel sore and dry. In terms of him, the midwife said his latch is good but he is tongue tied which we’re paying privately to look at tonight - although I’m not convinced it will help so have major mum guilt.

I feel like I’ve tried everything, nipple cream, cool gels, nipple shields.

I’ve got to the stage where I don’t want to feed him is bottle of breast milk which I’m pumping as I feel guilty for not being able to feed him on my boob.

Looking for tips but also just to let it out.

Silver cups!! I used a brand called panda something… silverware are the original brand. They’re so so so healing, they helped me when nothing else did. Compared to any creams they were a miracle. I also used some fresh aloe Vera gel, like straight out of the leaf of a plant (you just cut a leaf off and peel it open and stick the leaf on inside a nipple pad, or scrape the gel out of the cut leaf.
Also to say, it’s really really hard isn’t it. Unbelievably painful when your nipples are wounded, hang on in there if you can. Silver cups healed mine in 48 hours. We also had a tongue tie, after it was released the latch improved in a couple of weeks with some rehab exercises with my finger.

I second silver cups. You can also put some breastmilk in them to help aid recovery.

Thanks ladies, can I ask - do you put them on with nipple cream or like on clean nipples?

You can do either but absolutely fine without anything in them. Pop them on your nipples in your bra and they will stay in place.

also saved me 😅 prescribed creams did absolutely nothing to help but i luckily also only had one nipple really bad so just avoided feeding from that side. Heart goes to everyone whos both nipples were affected 🥲

Both are just destroyed, like gapping cracks. So demoralising! With this cream do you just keep putting it on or do you have a break from it? Even bled through the nipple shields 😢 just feel like I’m hitting rock bottom

Oh no babe I’m so sorry your going thru this, I know it’s tough but it will pass x
I just kept putting it on, you could try getting a warm shower or just gently washing your nipples that might help soothe and then just keep putting the cream on. Defo put a good amount before sleeping and try to drink plenty of water. It sounds pretty bad so maybe you could try giving a bottle if u can until the pain ease up a little

The lansinoh cream was a life saver. Put it on constantly, you can even put it on before a feed as it’s totally safe for baby. I would also suggest gently clean them in the shower and then let them air dry (no bra, no top) for a little bit and then pop some more cream on. Make sure your changing your breast pads at every feed or every 2-3 hours to avoid infection x

definitelyyy. Couldn’t agree more!

Thank you all so much xx

Lansinoh cream worked for me! I bled with nipple shields so pumped and gave him breast milk then gradually put him on and he would latch for like 30 seconds but then it increased and managed to feed for a short time. I still got the tongue tie procedure done and things are slowly getting better

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
