Accrued holiday pay after maternity

So I left my job after maternity leave and apparently we get holiday pay during maternity.

I haven’t taken any for 2025, I used to work 40 hours a week and get 28 days holiday (including bank holidays). I got paid around £11.00 an hour

I don’t really know how much to expect? I’ve asked my old work but they aren’t very good with replies. Any advise?

Depends when your holiday year runs from and to, when you went on maternity, if you had any carry over from additional previous holiday years etc.

I believe mine was when I started so I started May 2023 and went on maternity in March 2025. I think I used up my holiday from 2024 at the beginning of my maternity leave but I didn’t take any during my maternity as I wasn’t allowed to

There’s a calculator online that you can put all the info into and it’ll tell you what you’re entitled to. It’s what I used to calculate mine when I handed my notice in

It won't run from when you started unless it's a particularly disorganised company, you'll have had an adjusted amount to give you a proportionate amount of holiday for the rest of the working year. A lot of places run with the financial year or Jan-Dec so you need to work that out first really. If you're off from March and yours runs with the financial year you should have basically the full years worth to use before you return(or leave) which could help bridge the gap when maternity pay ends.

I've just read that you've already left- I'm confused about the dates, you started mat leave in 2025? But have left already? Did you mean you started in 2024? You should get a lump sum in last paycheck. Should be a decent amount, unless you know when the holiday period is though I couldn't say exactly how much.

You need to know exact dates of when the holiday year runs, what your allowance is, what you’ve taken etc. otherwise it’s all just a massive guess. Should all be in your contract?

For example my year runs April to March. I have 4 days carry over from last year, will take 5 at the beginning of my leave, accrue my full year’s allowance plus 3 bank holidays I ‘miss’ during my maternity, so can take a effectively take months holiday after my maternity before returning to work. I have this all agreed already 😂

I’ll have a look thank you!

sorry! So May leave started in March 2024, I left February 2025. I started my job in May 2023

I'd definitely get in touch with them if you haven't had anything through yet!

This is the calculator mentioned
But I believe you do need to know when your companies holiday year runs
Mine is march- Feb, my partners is April- march for example
Your companies hr should be bento tell you that if not how many hours you’re due x

It depends on when your holiday starts from! If you used up all of your 2024 leave then you may not have any for 2025, especially if it's starts in May (from your start date).

I’m pretty sure it’s January to December! I also feel like they wouldn’t have contacted me about it if I had nothing? Let’s hope so anyway 😂

If your partner got a prostitute pregnant and then abandoned the child/ran away, what would be your response? Read…

So you were not in a relationship at the time or were about to be in a relationship, he gets the prostitute pregnant.
It’s her fault for not taking their morning after pill.
He tells her straight up that he’s not going to be involved and that she should terminate it.
She says that she won’t terminate and she hopes that he does stick around

So she deliberately gets pregnant, basically traps him

What would be your reaction?
he’s response is:
“She trapped me and it’s her fault for not taking the pill”

STD rates and body count

Saw an interesting video and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this topic!

So std rates are at an all time high as we all know. Do you think the mindset that body count doesn’t matter has contributed to the significant increase of STDs and HIV?

Secondly if someone says that body count doesn’t matter do you believe they are less likely to practice safe sex compared to people who believe in more traditional values?

I can’t put all the combinations in the poll so feel free to comment just yes/no answers

(If you’re going to reply please keep your responses respectful and polite.)
