Fit to Fly Note ✈️

Hey! I'm going abroad at 28 weeks and BA says I need a fit to fly note signed by my GP or midwife. Midwife won't sign the form and GP said they will do a "Factual letter" but won't sign the form that BA have shared on their website. Anyone got experience of flying later on in pregnancy and any issues with trying to get a note from GP? Thanks 😀

I flew at 28 weeks pregnant and my midwife wrote me a fit to fly note. Didn’t fly BA so it wasn’t an airline issued letter. Then no one even asked for it! I guess it depends how much you’re showing!

Thank you! Yes that's what I'm thinking, wear baggy clothes and keep quiet 😂

Please don’t keep quiet with baggy clothes anything could happen at that time in pregnancy and if you haven’t informed the airline and something does happen why you are flying it could cause some serious issues. Your midwife shouldn’t be refusing a fit to fly note unless she has concerns about you flying I would call the community midwife number and speak with someone about why your midwife won’t give you a fit to fly

A fit to fly basically covers you under your own travel insurance as well so if anything does happen weather on the flight or abroad your covered because you have that bit of paper if you don’t have one and something happens you are not covered under your travel insurance as they would request a copy of you needed to make an insurance claim

Thanks! Yes it might just be my area then. They just said they used to do them but not anymore. I'll go back to the GP and ask for a letter of some sort again!

You don’t have to have the form filled out on BA website but as long as you have something from your midwife or doctor to say their happy for you to fly your then covered in all angels x

I flew at 31 weeks, from Romania to UK, and managed to get a letter from a random doctor there. But it was winter and I had a big coat and nobody asked for it (Wizz Air) so I didn’t offer it up. Just good to have it in case they do ask! I’m sure letter from your GP will be fine.

Gosh I thought you only needed one after 36 weeks for some reason.. I just got back from 2 weeks in California and I’m now 32 weeks - I am very much showing and no one asked me for anything. Flying delta and also virgin Atlantic.

I do know if you’re high risk category that you need your GP or Ob/Gyn to write your letter though not a midwife..

I was refused to board a plane because I didn't have a fit to fly. I got one from zoomdoc online whilst I was still at the airport and was allowed to get on the next flight later that day.

It was much easier when the midwife’s would sign the fit to fly note. Possibly Ask/tell BA in advance that you will be providing a GP letter for the flight as that is the process your GP follows now. I am planning to get a gp letter too 🤞🏾

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
