Do you or would you leave a fan on in your babies room overnight?

It’s so hot today/tonight but I don’t know if it’s safe to leave it on when he’s in the room on his own.

We tried it once last summer and we kept worrying. Ended up being better to just put him to sleep in a nappy, windows open and curtains closed. Doing the same with Jan girlie and thankfully the room is cool

We do, but it's the other side of her room with it circulating on a low mode. I think it can only really be dangerous to use a fan when directed and in close proximity to a baby, on a high speed.

No never. I think is risky

Avatar

Why is it dangerous?! I would have thought the opposite. Stops baby overheating, and circulates air. I’ve heard it can also stop SIDS.

I would & did on holidays too.
just had it in the room not directly pointing at him - i didnt leave it all night tho as the temp tends to drop.
Tho i would probably do less layers/window open first and only use the fan in very hot weather.

Putting a fan on in the room is perfectly safe and can reduce the risk of SIDS by 72%. Of course, SIDS is usually only a concern in babies under 1.
In the US, I used ceiling fans in the room in the summer so help my baby sleep better in a cooler room.
When it gets too warm here (in UK) we put fans on all day in every room.

I put our LG’s fan on a timer for an hour or so (other side of the room) while she goes to sleep - don’t usually leave it all night because of the temperature drop and would rather us all not waking up!

One of the fans we had did spark once leaving a burn on the carpet. We turned it off quickly enough not to do more damage

I can only sleep if I have a fan on (all year round🤣) so we’ve had one on since my son was born, we’ve just made sure it’s never directly pointing at him and the opposite side of the room to his next to me. He’s absolutely fine and I think very thankful for it with the hot weather x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
