Do we need to count movements?

I keep seeing people post about counting movements do we really need to do that? Is this not too excessive? The baby has some sort of a pattern usually moves right after food and right before I sleep but it’s kind of consistent twirling not just kicks that I can specifically count.

Do you count movement? How do you do it?

I feel baby when I’m resting, so it’s not always the same every day, so I honestly just go by how much I feel him when I rest and if I like press my tummy and scoop it up, if he doesn’t kick then that might be odd.

I’m the same as Emma! I usually feel baby before lunch and in the evening when I’m relaxed.
If I wasn’t to feel baby one evening then I’d be worried. But I don’t track/long every single movement and kick.
My midwife said as long as it’s regular and fairly consistent then it’s all good!

No you don’t need to count every individual kick/movement. You’ll notice a pattern which you already have done, and it’s when that pattern changes (like you feel nothing at all or lots more movement around those periods) you may feel the need to be checked out x

You don’t need to count! Like you said in your post just looking out for patterns like after eating and before bed etc. this is the same pattern for me atm. I never counted with my first either

I would say I have a rough idea when I expect to feel her movements. I will usually always feel her after breakfast and when I’m resting in bed before going to sleep. Anything in between doesn’t usually follow a pattern but is a bonus 🥰

I only count movements to make sure I don't go a day without forgetting. I mean, I doubt that I could tbh, but it puts my anxiety at ease.

I use an app called Kicks Count from a charity with the same name. It's free and you count sessions of movement rather than individual kicks x

I normally can tell when to expect the kicks- she always kicks/thumps me when I’m lying down flat or when I’m relaxing.. she also doesn’t like it if I roll on my side so she lets me know by kicking me🤣
At the minute she’s kicking me loads throughout the day too - there’s not an hour where she doesn’t - very lively! X

I wouldn’t even be able to count movement because my baby beats me up all day long with only some 10-20 minute breaks in between 😂

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Owlet

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
