I have a 3 week old. I love her so much but I have days where I don’t want to be anywhere near her or I don’t like her. Anyone else feel the same? I’m currently self aware that I’m going through postpartum depression. I’m not eating as much as I should or drinking water, my rooms a mess, I just want to stay in my bedroom and not come out all day. I miss my old life and I hate being a mother sometimes. I just feel so lonely and grieving my old life. I think it really hits me when I’ve barely had any sleep that I feel very low.

You’re doing amazing mama! It’s so hard to feel this way but it’s so common! Becoming a parent, especially a mum is an entire lifestyle change and makes so much sense that you’re feeling low and grieving your previous life.
They are so dependent on us, I often feel like I would just like some space and some me time again!
I really hope you’re getting support with PPD and just remember how amazing you are!! Sending my love and hugs 🩷🩷

I’m glad you’re aware that you’re likely experiencing PPD. I remember shortly after my son was born that my husband and I were going somewhere, and I started crying because my mind felt so empty. I was tired and wasn’t used to not being at work thus having new things to talk about every day. It didn’t last long. I kept up with my therapy and my meds. My husband and I make sure I get out of the house at least every few days if not more often. When the weather is nice, I try to spend time on our porch with the baby and the dogs or take him for a walk. We still try to run errands and find fun activities to do.
Things that have helped me are getting outside or going places to keep me from just staring at the same 4 walls all day. Ask friends or family if they want to stop by. You’ll get some adult conversation which is often needed. Many will hold baby so you can feel like a person that’s not got another person glued to them while you visit or if you need a chance to grab a shower.

I know how you feel, I felt exactly the same. It was horrible feeling and I felt like a horrible mom but pushed through anyways. Remember, being a mom and having a baby so desperately dependent on you is an extremely big change plus your rapid change in hormones isn’t helping. Definitely get a help for depression if you’re not getting it yet. I promise it gets better, just have to get more used to the change. If you can ask family or friends for help. Maybe they can watch baby even if it’s just for an hour so you can relax. And please, eat and drink good. The better you take care of yourself, the better you will feel so the better your baby will feel which will make you feel better. Hang it there, you’re doing great!

Honestly yes, I felt this exact way and hated myself for it and for not appreciating this new little bundle like everyone had said I would. It’s scary and hard work but now 3/4 months down the line I’m so thankful I ploughed through, it really does get so much better and this is unfortunately a crappy part along the most magical journey you’ll experience. Please feel free to message if ever needed, it really is a lot but I’m sure you’re doing the most amazing job🩷
Thank you for all the comments and making me feel better about how I feel. I was ashamed to feel this way since everyone talks about the positives about having a baby.

Everyone most of the time only talks about the positive but never the negative however like everything in life, there is good and bad in being a parent. There are gonna be good days and there are gonna be bad days and that is perfectly normal! Remember, you are only human and it’s okay to miss your old life as having a baby change so much in your life but most likely down the line you would not change it for anything.
