2nd baby

Does anyone else feel like nobody cares half as much on your second baby? None of my friends asked when the 20 week scan was, some don’t even know the gender as they’ve not asked, nobody has asked how I’m getting on with a toddler (20 months) and being pregnant with no help until partner home in evenings, just feel like with first baby I was getting super excited because everyone else was whereas this time it feels very flat and shows what’s to come. Surely other people have experienced this? :(

Yep I feel this! I feel like my friends have stopped inviting me out aswell now so having to make a bit more of an effort to create plans. I think they think because I’m pregnant with a toddler I have no time but truely I need my people around me!xx

No body really cares but equally I don’t really expect them too. I’m sure people are happy for you, just not always asking about appointments. I think in the nicest possible way it’s not always that interesting for them

100% experiencing this but not with friends, with family. I’m really lucky to have a good group of mum friends as I already have a 17 month old. They’ve always checked in and asked but huge difference in family compared to my first pregnancy. My mum has asked quite a few times how I’m getting on but everyone else and my partners family haven’t checked in at all

It’s the same for me too. Not from my friends but family. No one asks how I’m getting on or anything to do with baby or pregnancy. I do sort of get that the excitement over a first baby is completely different but I do feel sad that people arnt as excited for my 2nd. I’m just making sure I do all the exact same things for my 2nd as I did for my 1st regardless of what my family do

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.
