I don't know I'm just trying to get others opinions because I get a cultural group like only this culture but groups by race seems so weird to me it's an app to bring women together

Do you mean like the Black groups? Because people of the African diaspora tend to be more culturally similar, it's not just a "race" thing

No I mean like I seen someone post an all Asian group and I haven't seen any other races do that but Asian is a wide umbrella so I'm like ok maybe as like a cultural thing but I just don't like only having friends because we all look alike I want to learn from other cultures

not sure if I made that more confusing sorryš«

I think in predominantly white spaces (which I think Peanut skews) POC can find commonality under even wide umbrellas. I don't think people in those groups are looking just for friends of their own race or ethnic background, but rather understanding and solidarity in spaces where they're othered

Itās weird to involve race. I would think it makes more sense to make groups based on state or common interests.

Sometimes you can have things in common because of your race and not because of culture. E.g. black Americans, black Brits, Africans & black Caribbeans can look alike but we differ a lot depending on culture and where you were raised. However our treatment abroad can be the same if people pay attention to the colour of our skin without engaging in conversation. Unfortunately a lot of people are uneducated about cultures outside of their own which is why a Vietnamese person could be mistaken for a Chinese person or a Pakistani person could be mistaken for being Indian. When it comes to relating to each other due to our race it's also sometimes because we're talking about the treatment we experience from others who don't look like us.

I honestly dont see a problem. And I donāt think itās weird. Iād proudly join an African only mama group (not because I only want African friends and I know that Africa is a huge continent & with many different cultures & ethnicities of ppl bt like raqi was saying Iām joining because I want solidarity. I even do this in other spaces like the park for example even when Iām with my non black friends etc. if I see a black mom & we are the only black moms at that park, we acknowledge one another even tho we are complete strangers, itās a look of understanding lol. bt I have a Filipino friend & she does that with her Asian people as well. She is a nurse & works At the hospital & they even do this at her work place. It just what people of color often do in these white spaces.
