I came home from work tonight to a chunky letter and had the absolute shock of my life to read about my molar pregnancy diagnosis. Numerous bits of paper, information leaflets and urine sample collection bottles etc. I have been completely blind sided by this because my missed miscarriage was the beginning of October last year, so around 8 months ago and im only just hearing this news now.
Because I got the letter after work the office was shut so I couldn't ring for advice but its obvs driving me crazy! I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with a rainbow baby but upon trying to research online i can't quite tell whether there could still be bad news for me in terms of anything lingering...I got pregnant very quickly after the last miscarriage so no idea! Any help would be appreciated

I wouldn’t be concerned only because I had a miscarriage in March, fell pregnant again 3 weeks after my D&C completely unaware it was a Molar pregnancy. I went for my blood tests and my HCG levels were sky high, had a scan i was 6 weeks pregnant not even 10 weeks post D&C. You can’t get pregnant if you don’t ovulate. Your levels would have reduced within that time frame for you to of ovulation and conceived again.
How awful though you only found out now! All the best to you girl x

@Katrina 🪬 thanks for replying. I knew absolutely zero about molar pregnancy until literally tonight. I understand that my hcg levels dropped low enough to ovulate and restart my cycle to get pregnant again but what im unclear on is if that means there is absolutely no chance of any molar cells being left behind. Can't believe its taken them this long to get in touch with me!

after your delivery or baby, you will have your hcg levels tested regularly just to make sure the tumour doesn’t come back x

I’m so sorry you found out by letter, such an awful way to be told. I was the same in 2021. Missed miscarriage in October and didn’t get the letter until a couple of months later talking about cancer. I was referred to the specialist hospital in Scotland where I live and had to do urine samples but was pregnant again by the time I got the sample kit. I just phoned them and told them I was pregnant and that was the end of that. No more tests or follow ups. I think if you’ve been able to conceive so soon they are satisfied that everything’s okay.
I’ve just had my second baby boy last month and throughout this pregnancy and the last there were no issues. The midwife’s just mentioned id had a molar pregnancy in the past and that was it.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and congratulations on your rainbow 🌈

@Emma thanks so much for responding, a very similar situation to mine and Congratulations on your new baby! I spoke to the hospital who sent me the letter this morning and they thoroughly explained everything. There should be no reason to worry as I conceived straight away, they just want to do bloods and urine 6 weeks after baby is born so they can discharge me.
