Does anyone else feel so much pressure to do baby LED weaning?
My little boy is nearly 10 months old and he loves purees but I feel like I’m failing by giving it to him instead of doing weaning, he does okay at weaning buts he’s a lazy baby 😂 he opens his mouth each time i offer him food wont go to hold it himself.
if he’s fed it’s food either way am I right ?

Keep offering finger foods alongside purées but if he doesn’t want it then🤷🏻♀️a fed baby is all that matters x

No reason you can’t do both! That’s what we do and my son loves both now but only recently learnt if he actually opens his mouth he’ll get food 😂 x

Yess same we do a bit of both. As long as he’s eating honestly don’t stress yourself. Purées blended food I normally feed but anything she can hold I give to her

I am so glad I’m not alone with this I have been putting so much pressure on him and me to get the hang of baby led weaning I’m just gonna do both and make us both happy, thank you girls ❤️

what is your feeding routine like do you do 3 meals a day ? X

As long as baby is being fed I wouldn’t worry. My baby was on puree until recently really and he’s 9.5 months, the last few weeks I’d say though I have been doing more blw but it is scary! There is no way he would be able to of done it at 6/7 months x

Yep, we tend to do purees but I've definitely felt judged by a few other mums for it, especially after that documentary about them! We try blw but I feel like so much food gets wasted because it's either just thrown on the floor or she spits it out. We are trying to do more of it but it does feel like a losing battle sometimes

yes so she has a bottle first thing around 8am. Then breakfast at 9am, lunch 12/1ish another bottle 4ish dinner 5/6ish then bottle before bed at 8pm x

Today she had porridge which I spoon fed and she had half of my toast broken up in pieces which she picked up and ate and a few pieces of tangerine. Lunch she has cream cheese puffs with cucumber and tomatoes so I’ll feed her and let her have some on her tray too so it’s mixture of both. If I left her to it it would all end up everywhere. So this way I know she’s eaten too. X

similar to my little one! Spoon fed porridge, broken up toast for lunch (a range of toppings over the days) which he does himself. A few melty puff snacks. Dinners are usually a protein (he holds), yogurt or fruit puree which I’ll give via spoon and then handheld veg pieces

We do both. And my first was such a lazy madam she was puree fed until 1 they just got progressively chunkier lol. Do what works for you x

We started with both but mostly just BLW now as he's decided he's too independent to be spoonfed and feeding him purees etc takes FOREVER and copious amounts of distractions so he doesn't just bat the spoon away 🤣 he's far happier shovelling food in by hand 🤣 it's just easier to know how much he's eaten if I can feed him myself but aparently I'm not allowed anymore 😅 x

We also do both, try to make purées junkier now. The ones you can buy per age also help

We do a bit of both. He seems to prefer the mash/purées at the moment. He likes thin strips of buttered toast and potato waffle and picking up and eating Rice Krispies (also good for his motor skills!!) if it’s anything soft like banana or avocado he just squished it but doesn’t eat but we still give him a little bit every so often as I’m sure at some point he’ll start munching it too!
Try not to worry too much- they’ll get there
