Hi ladies! I did my perineal massages religiously with both boys (born at home 4 and 2 years ago) and absolutely hated doing it as always found it sore and uncomfortable but still cracked on.
I had a second degree tear both times which were fine and stitched up in my bed and healed well so all good.
I’m finding the massages so much harder and sorer this time I’m assuming because of my scar tissue, and also my body there looks VERY different to how it did pre kids 🤣🥲 any tips or do I just need to grit my teeth and bear it?

If you still tore.. i personally wouldnt continue to do it.
It really should have also happened after.. you tore to soften the scar tissue once you were healed.
I would focus more on.. like weighted balls of different sizes to stretch the area rather than the massages

Have you heard of the Aniball? A friend recently recommended it and I’m thinking of ordering it to try. I prefer the sound of a tool helping out rather than doing the massage myself.

I’m going to get a pelvic wand this time to make it a little easier! My pelvic floor physio also recommended massaging my scar to stretch it before birth. They can help massage it for you too!

my kids were 10lb and born at home and midwives said if I’d not done the massages the damage would have been a lot worse 😅

this sounds right up my street!

im not saying do nothing.... but the massages are not comfy 😭 i did them the first time for a few weeks but then went to.. massagers and weighted balls
