Toddler Trenches

Anyone else TIRED, exhausted, overstimulated, and overwhelmed?!

Currently prepping for my daughter’s 2nd Birthday Party this Saturday and I’ve been trying so hard to keep my cool, but it’s slowly warming up. Lol. Between that, attending to my toddler’s needs, and house chores—I feel like I’m sinking.🫠

How are y’all holding up?

I had to come up with a cleaning schedule to keep up with house chores and outdoor chores. One week I spend a day outside tending to the weeds, the next week I do household chores. I have a different day to do different chores. There are some things I have on the schedule to do once a week, some things I do after dinner every night (wiping down surfaces and sweeping crumbs), mopping under our table twice a week after sweeping, and then there are some bigger things I have on there that I do once a month (cleaning bath tub and shower). I have 2 hours after I put the little down that I fit these in. This week has been weeding so I set a timer and have been spending a set amount of time outside pulling weeds (I also broke up areas around my house that I do need to make sure I get down on certain days, and if I finished that in that amount of time I will go on to the next day and get a head start), but after that I then can get a workout in. It has really helped me to compartmentalize and have a set time.

Yes, same here! It definitely has its ebbs and flows. This week feels like a good one because I’ve had some help, but there are other weeks when it feels like everything falls on me.
Happy almost 2nd birthday to your little one! 🥳 What’s the theme?
I’m actually planning my little boy’s 2nd birthday too—his is in June!

100% i just downloaded sweepy to help with home tasks. I really hope gamifying things helps 🥴🫠

I’m happy to know I’m not alone!🫶🏻 I 100% need to do the same! I might actually get more done and won’t have scrambled eggs for a brain.😅
It’s tough when help is not around for sure! Thank you so much🥰 The theme for her party is Farm Animals! We’ve got 98% of the party stuff ready to go—just need to put it all together the day of. Her birthday is June 15, when’s your baby’s birthday?

Decided to do a classroom party for my his 2nd but just the prep for that is crazy!

it has helped me to actually see what I need to accomplish for that day of the week for sure. That way I don't have to think about it too much too!

@Sara we are on the same journey! Saturday party I wanted to be outside, bubble themed and now the weather says it will rain 🌧 ugh. Having 12 toddlers inside my house terrifies me

awe I love the farm animal theme. I did that for my daughter’s second birthday. My son’s birthday is June 14 and we decided to go with a Mickey Mouse theme. He is obsessed with Mickey Mouse clubhouse rn so it just makes it easy. I hope your daughter has the best birthday. Good luck, you’ve got this.

@Cynthia Lerma I'm actually enjoying preparing the party all by myself. It is all my ideas, and I don't have to compromise with anything or include ideas that I'm not sold on just because my co-planner wants. I have been doing co-planned parties for too long now and this is a refresh.

No real birthday party here for that reason. Last year was stressful setting a party up. Getting frustrated at the hubby, overstimulated by baby, stress and patience levels maxed out- not enjoyable. All for other people to be catered to bc honestly, the baby/kid didnt/doesn’t know or care- I realized, it should be about our kiddo and all they care about it us at this stage and they wont even be processing who came and gave them gifts etc. If people wanna come pop-in and say hi we will be home playing and spending quality time together. And no pressure of who is invited or not. 😪😮‍💨

You got this, just remember it’s about your kid and family- all they want is YOUR love and YOUR quality time. Nothing about the party needs to be perfect. If you can, delegate/ask for help from people coming to the party. They can help to celebrate your kid! 🥳

You are not alone at all. My daughters birthday was June 1st and the set up for the party alone drained me, not to mention I’m also 5 months pregnant 🫠

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

C section trauma ?

Is it a thing to be traumatised by a c section delivery? I’m 4 weeks pp after having an emergency c section. I won’t go into the ins and outs to what got me there 😂
Nothing went wrong in the surgery at all, it was just incredibly intense, overwhelming and scary, but luckily my baby was delivered safe!
However I’m finding my birth experience quite difficult to even think about and when I do, I feel a horrid gut wrenching feeling, my heart aches and I just uncontrollably cry! My body feels really alien to me, like it’s not my own and I just feel really let down.
