Today I had my first ultrasound for baby #2. I have a c-section scar from having my son 2 1/2 years ago. The ultrasound tech continuously pressed the wand over my scar so hard and it was quite painful. I honestly thought it was normal that it could be painful in the moment, but it stung all day after. I was just in the bath and looked at my scar and it's gone from a barely visible skin tone scar to now a bright pink/red color and there's even a section of it where the skin broke. I put Neosporin on it, but I'm wondering has this happened to anyone else? I don't know what else to do other than keep it dry and clean until it heals. I feel very upset about it and it stings so bad. My husband said I should have said something in the appointment while it was happening but as I said, I expected it to feel a bit painful or uncomfortable since scar tissue is already sensitive, I just didn't know damage was actually being done at the time. Before my next ultrasound I'll mention it, but until then what should I do? 😭

This exact thing happened to me- i have a scar that looks very similar to a c section scar from having an ovarian cyst removed. During my pregnancy early on i had an ultrasound and could smell blood and wasnt sure what was happening since i have no sensation around the area other then pressure so when i felt pulling i got worried, they had tucked a towel into my pants because of the gel and when i was cleaning up i could see blood on the towel/not alot but enough for me to notice. I mentioned it to the tech and they apologized and would just ask them to be gentle around the scar tissue since i had different techs most times
Just keep area clean and dry for now, it will heal. Its kind of like when you scratch your skin or bump into the corner of something and it just rips the skin

The same happened to me at my 16 week private scan, I thought it was normal but it really isn’t and should not hurt. Make sure next time you say that you had a painful experience last time and it was very uncomfortable, could you please be really gentle this time? You are allowed to tell them to stop and that’s what I didn’t realise! It should never be painful xx

i’ve had three scans so far. i’m 15 weeks and shewwww. they are so mean with it. i’m just flinching in pain from them pushing on it. the last time. the dr was trying to find the heartbeat on just a doppler. it hurt so freaking bad. she was like what’s wrong. so i told her that is extremely painful. as she continued to do it. after i told her exactly where baby was 🙄 then we went to the ultrasound room bc she couldn’t find the heartbeat and she did it again. my scar felt so weird and stung. luckily nothing was bleeding or anything. but it felt like she ripped it open. and i had my csection 4 years ago! they definitely need to be more cautious on scar esp when its very public knowledge of how painful it is years after. i hope you’re feeling better and that it’s healing up!
