Travel cot

Hi everyone,
We need a travel cot to leave at my parents house, suitable from birth onwards. We don't want to spend a fortune if possible but want something comfortable for little one. Does anyone have recommendations?
Thanks x

We have a Graco foldlite lx, it's got a newborn bassinet insert which means they're higher up. We chose this as it folds two ways, one quick fold into a flat rectangle that can easily be put behind a door or down the side of the sofa. And then the normal compact fold with the legs folded down as well. It's more expensive than some but this feature makes it easier to put away at nannas house!

@Charley thanks! How does the matress feel, does your little one sleep well?

Red kite but bought a separate thicker mattress as theirs is thin and flimsy.

All travel cot mattresses are the same. They feel quite hard to use, but babies have a lot less weight and so need less padding. And we all know a firm flat mattress is the safest thing for babies.

Most travel cots have a line in their instructions/safety information that says not to add an additional mattress, it's a suffocation/entrapment risk.

He has always slept well in it. We used it from about 3 months in the living room when he outgrew the moses basket, and more recently on a week long trip away at 7 months old.

@Charley thats perfect thank you. She will be 10 weeks when we first use it for a stay at nanny's. There's just too many to choose from it baffles me a bit!

We use the bugaboo stardust travel cot and have found it super easy!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.
