Airport transfer/ taxi with a baby car seat

We're flying from London Stansted at the end of the month with our 4 month old. We don't drive so I'm looking into a taxi / airport transfer that offers a car seat. Can you recommend any companies as when I search online, it says that I need to bring my own car seat and they have the space for it?

You won’t find many taxi companies offering a car seat because of liabilities, and also I wouldn’t want to use one they provided, you have no idea what’s it’s been through or how old it is x

We didn't have a car when we lived in London so either had to take a black cab as there was room for the pram itself to be taken in - legal but not ideal, especially for long journeys like to Stansted.

Or we bought a car seat that would last several years (Joie stages) and used it whenever we needed to travel by car. The con of this is storage of the thing as it's huge! We wanted one that'd last though so it felt like less of a waste of money to use infrequently. If taking public transport isn't an option then I'd say getting a car seat is your next best bet.

I wouldn't trust car seats from a taxi company tbh. They'd likely be super old and could have been on an accident, damaged or stored incorrectly.

Thanks all, but we don't have a car or any friends in the area that owns a car.

Sorry, I have no taxi recommendation. Depending on the time of the flight (and how much luggage you have!) could the Stansted Express be an option? They have services leaving Liverpool Street and Stratford from 3:30am until midnight most days.

I would love to know too as I’m traveling in September with my boy who will be 4 months. Do buses require car seats?

Avatar

no you can take baby on a bus in a pram, carrier or just on your lap.

Legally, baby can sit on your lap in a taxi so unlikely they’d be provided.
If you need a car seat at the other end, it’s probably best to buy one and check it in, but we’ve always just sat baby on our lap, but that’s personal preference

I would just buy one, doesn't need to be fancy, even if you don't have a car, you might need it during your stay as well, a taxi would charge you anyway to rent one. Or depending where you live, you can take the train to go to the airport.

Other solution, the Doona pram/car seat

You could rent one:

I’ve been ringing around for same reason but in the north east they told me they don’t do car seats bcos it’s legal for a little one to be in a taxi without 😭

With a 4 month old I’d buy a cheap infant carrier that you can just buckle in with a seatbelt- a joie juva is £60

Not sure what’s wrong- 5months

Has anyone experienced any of the below problems with their baby?
He’s always a happy baby so this is completely not him. He’s a terrible sleeper but now it’s worse, if it could.

He’s was EBF but now on formula for the last 2 weeks. 2 days in a row now he’s vomitted a lot of milk out everywhere in the evening and just before bed.
For example I was walking around the room with him around 18:45 and it just came out of no where everywhere.

He’s very miserable and takes ages to get to sleep. Crying lots.
He’s been dribbling a lot, flushed one cheek but I can’t see any teeth coming.

All night he just won’t settle in his cot. Sometimes just starts crying hysterically and I can’t settle him at all.

A very tired mama.

Any advise on what it could be?

Sleeping through

If your baby is sleeping through the night are you ever nervous about saying that to other parents with babies of the same age? My toddler no longer sleeps through without coming into our bed but did until about 11 months old and now my 11 week old has been sleeping solid for 3 or 4 weeks now. I always feel like I can’t say it to other mums because it comes across like I’m showing off…I know what the sleep deprivation feels like and how you can just resent anyone for anything🤣 but I kind of feel like I can’t relate sometimes.

Is there any correlation between sleeping through the night and types of feeding?

Did your baby age 0-6months sleep through the night, 6 hours or more, and how were they fed? It always see like formula fed babies sleep through the night sooner than breastfed babies.
