My son is currently 14 months and weighs 20 pounds and 8oz. And I’ve been noticing that he’s not swallowing his food he’ll chew it and push it out unless it’s soft or a smash texture. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so when did it stop or how can I stop it

My son is 2.5 yr and he has been doing this since forever, like since he first starting trying foods. He still does it. His Dr says it's a normal thing that some kids go through and to just keep offering things to him even if he spits it out. He has definitely shown improvement but slowly. Even meal I put a food I know he will eat and a little bit of food he might wind up spitting out. I also tell him what every food is. That way if he likes it he can ask for it.

does it seem like he wants to eat cause my son will keep putting food in his mouth just to push it out

Yeah, it seems like he wants to eat it but then realizes he doesn't like the texture so he spits it out. Sometimes he will even hold it in his mouth for awhile.

My baby does this too. He is 15 months and he will chew food and sometimes it goes in/sometimes it goes out. I feel like sometimes it’s a texture or taste he doesn’t like. It also seems like sometimes it’s related to the amount. If he accidentally puts too much in his mouth, he will spit some of it out.

My 14 mo old does this a lot. Some days I wonder if she actually ate anything.

I’m in the exact same boat just glad I’m not the only so I’m guess it just a normal part of there development

My 15 month old was doing this. Her pediatrician recommended feeding therapy. Turns out she didn’t know how to chew properly.

my son does this sometimes, too. we found it’s related to the amount. if too much goes in, he spits it out. so we end up offering little bits at a time and that usually works!

oh no!! I wonder if this is our issue...it's so weird because mine eats some things..has therapy been helpful ?

yes, when my baby takes her own bite it's usually too big and she spits it out. If I cut it in tiny pieces she does better.

I hope this phase passes quickly!
