I’m starting to get rather concerned as my little girl is not showing any signs of potty training. We’ve done the whole buy a potty and leaving it in the room and reading her books but she still doesn’t seem ready. She also doesn’t let me change her poopy nappy when she’s done one so I’m concerned that she doesn’t mind sitting in her poo. I feel like she should be ready or showing some signs. She did have something last week where I think she needed a wee and she kept saying poo poo poo poo and then was freaking out about having wee. I reassured her it’s ok and took her nappy off to allow her to do it on the floor but she kept asking for her nappy to be put on. I’m feeling a bit deflated as I’m seeing all these other children her age fully potty trained or getting there. What am I doing wrong?!

Average age for potty training is 2.5 years old. Your girl doesn't sound ready and with my first I felt deflated when my daughter had her 2 year review (she was 2 years 3 months) and they asked if she was potty trained yet and I said she isn't ready and then a few days later she was showing all the signs and was in knickers within a week of that appointment all on her terms and no training. They say you don't need do any training when they're truly ready and this was the case for me with both my girls. You're doing amazing xx

My eldest wasn’t potty trained until she was 2y 9m - she got it instantly but never showed any interest prior and would also not tell us when she had done a poo.

Please don’t feel deflated she is still so young! We introduced the potty just before she turned 2 thought we were onto a winner as loved sitting on it now she absolutely hates it! She’s done 2 wee’s on it! It’s purely distraction we try and make it fun and read books/sing songs. We’ve got some potty books and a toilet seat for the toilet. Still no way near but she will do it on her on time & terms don’t be disheartened by others xx

My daughter also shows absolutely no interest in a potty (and lies about having done a poo - both says she has when she hasn’t, and says she hasn’t when she has!) So I don’t think it’s you at all. I think they just have different timelines and hoping it’ll be a quicker process if I wait for her to be genuinely ready.

I’m the same my son turned 2 in may hes telling me once he’s done a poo etc but isn’t there quite yet. They do it in there own time hun xx

Sorry to jump on this what signs should we be looking out for?
Please
Don’t worry too much my lg seems to be the same she’s interested in potty but would rather have nappy on

telling you that they are doing a wee or poo is the start I believe. My first would go off and hide and that meant she wasn't ready. The more they can communicate/talk the easier it gets. Trying to take the nappy off was another sign as my second was very uncomfortable in her mess (She'd always go to put her hand down her nappy after a poo) 😱 If the toddler is showing no interest in the toilet/potty then it's too early as well, but come the next day the child may show interest and then just take to it and then you never look back. It literally happens when you don't even expect it. The less we put pressure on it the easier it becomes xx

I wouldn't worry though our son is occasionally using the toilet to do a wee he is nowhere near ready. Hoping he will be in a few months time, my niece was 3 when she was toilet trained just as she moved into preschool and the penny dropped. Though her parents had tried a few times

Have you tried big girls underwear, I tried with mine and he loves it more than the nappy. I'm more relaxed to let him little accidents even though sometimes flat out refuses the potty. I'm just armed with special urine cleaner 🫧 and may order those absorbable pants, but how I see it is the long game, just leaving out the potty, reminders etc and my little one is this week only vocalising there is a poo or he feels wet
