I just need some advice or words of encouragement at least. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. My son, who will be 2 in a couple of days has not been sleeping well at all the last couple of weeks. There will be nights where it takes us literally 2-3 hours to put him down and then he'll wake up at all hours of the night. Sometimes he won't go back to sleep for hours. We are at our wits end and don't know what else to do. We all need sleep. Is this a normal sleep regression or separation anxiety or what?! Help!

Hi Sarah. My first is turning two in a few days as well, and though I don’t have guidance or advice, I do just want to let you know you’re not alone. My daughter has been going through a nap strike and sleep regression too these last couple of weeks. Dr. Google says it’s normal, but that hasn’t made it any easier. We took her swimming today though and she knocked out for sleep cold. So maybe some extra movement and sun could help your little one!

We hit a sleep regression just before my daughter's birthday, too. It was awful, but it passed. She's back to her normal bedtime routine now - though we've started bringing her to our bed for night wakeups. She's sleeping through the night less consistently because she wants our bed, but I honestly love the cuddles and she's happier in the morning anyway.
All that to say, it seems like a regression at that age is really common. I also felt me I was losing my mind - but you're gonna get through it!

My daughter turned 2 a few weeks ago and we had the same thing. It started maybe a couple of months before her birthday and lasted quite a bit. She would refuse her naps, wake up 2-3 times in a night, sometimes for a long time and sometimes not going back to sleep at all. Then she got back on track for a couple of weeks. Now she wakes up about once a night but will go back to sleep within about 10 minutes. Sleep will definitely ebb and flow. Hang in there, mama. I know it's SO hard!

Same here. Son just turned two this week and we’ve been hit hard by sleep regression last two weeks.

Us too! A couple weeks ago my son refused to sleep in his crib anymore and would climb out. We transitioned to a twin bed and need to lay with him until he’s asleep. Some nights he goes down easy and sleeps through. Some nights it takes an hour or two for him to fall asleep and he occasionally wakes up at 3/4am crying and needing us to lay with him again. Same for naps, some days he won’t nap and some days he will.
