Does anyone have their baby in the front seat with air bags off?

My baby is 4 month and is in the rear passenger seat, however, she’s started crying a lot when she’s in the car, I think it’s because she can’t see me. I have mirrors, and things for her to look at etc but I’m debating putting her in the passenger seat next to me.
I know it’s not the safest place but surely it’s not safe for me to keep turning around and putting her dummy back in etc??

My girl used to be in the front alot tbh, sometimes we still put her in if she’s struggling x

thanks Liv. I think I’m going to have to. I can’t stand to hear her cry so I’m constantly pulling over to put her dummy in and settle her etc.
my car is automatic so if needed I can just put my hand on her and with her being able to see me, I think she will be better xx

100%. When my fiancé would drive in the car with just her she’d be inconsolable which would then make the drive so much more dangerous and it genuinely did help xx

Avatar

yeah exactly!
I’m going to move her into the front and see how we get on xx thank you

Yes if I’m driving alone I put my LO in the front next to me. We get to sing, and talk about what we can see on the drive and definitely helps if we’re driving at night.

I have my little one in the passenger seat, it just eases the level of anxiety for me x

Thank you, I just checked my car and it doesn’t have isofix in the front. So I’m thinking to put her in the front with the seatbelt around the car seat when we’re alone in the evening, but in the day keep her in the back. It just seems to be evenings where she cries xx

I had my LG in the front with me when she was little. I did a 4 hour drive just me and her. It was more dangerous for me to have her in the back crying then next to me where she could see me and I could put her dummy back in x

I agree hun xx

I did not. Higher risk than I was willing to take. I realize that's coming from a place of privilege cuz my spouse drives us almost anywhere and we can have two parents in the car at once, especially at that point, but.... I wouldn't even put my 5 year old nephew in the front. Just too dangerous for me to be comfortable with

Avatar

I do, there's actually no evidence that being in the back seats is safer for them if Rear facing. The safest place is the furthest from the impact which you cannot predict.

I honestly couldn't of continued to drive with my baby in the back as he would get so upset to the point of being sick and choking and that in itself was so dangerous and i was so distracted!

Avatar

100% the same! My baby kept crying and making herself choke! And you’re right, the safest place is furthest away from the impact and nobody knows where that’s going to happen!

Avatar

it is so horrible, i found he's better in the front and at least if he was upset i could stop it from escalating to that level! I hope moving to the front fixes it for you😌

I researched it loads and spoke to car seat safety experts as i was so nervous and just assumed it couldn't be as safe, but it is for as long as they are rear facing. It's just once they are forward there becomes the issue as they need the airbag but it could also injure them x

Okay I'm just jealous yall can do that with your babies.. I literally had to stay home or make quick 5 to 10 min drives.. my life was on pause until my daughter was 8 months old & finally okay with a 20 min or longer drive

In the US we would be pulled over & arrested or ticket / court hearing if an officer saw/ people are nosey and surely call on us If we had kids under the age of 8 or 9 in our front seat

I'm genuinely like.. why can we not now bc of this post lol. Bc yes that makes SO MUCH SENSE. I'm sure my daughter wouldn't of wound up with car sickness had I been able to comfort her like that. She outgrew it when she turned 2 and safe to turn around.

Not really advice as I’ve kept my LB in the back anyway but just want to say my 8 month old went through this stage of randomly crying in the car when he was a little younger, probably around 4 months too! (Was fine before then) but he soon grew out of it and I found playing babytv songs through the car speaker or just singing to him distracted him enough if it were a short journey. Just sending positive thoughts and hoping you get through it quick enough, you’ve got this, it gets easier ✨

Avatar

ah that makes me feel loads better as I’ve already had people saying it’s not safe etc 😭😭
Well I put her in the front seat for our journey home tonight and it was a BREEZE! So much better! She stared at me half the way home and then fell asleep! So much safer than me pulling over every 5 mins to jump in the back to try and settle her! Xxx

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
