GTT's

This may be a silly question, but does everyone get offered a GTT? I haven't had one yet and I'm 31weeks. The triage nurse today seemed shocked that my community midwife hasn't booked one for me.
I also haven't had a scan since 20 weeks. Is this normal? Sorry if these are silly questions. Nervous first time mum😅

No, you only have a GTT if you have a BMI above 30 or you’re measuring ahead on fundal height. Same with scans, unless there’s a concern you’re carrying a big / small baby due to stomach measurements, you don’t have any scans after 20 weeks. X

@Chloe Thank you for letting me know. My BMI was 24 on booking but has gone up to 30 at my 28week appointment. I've never had my stomach measured, so maybe I'll have that done at my next appointment. X

It's usually only offered if you're at risk of having diabetes in the first place - be it family history, where you're from. I was tested due to my mum having it when she was pregnant. I've known others get tested later if they're measuring big.

Thank you for your answers. It must be because my BMI has gone up to 30 on my 28week appointment...maybe that's why triage was expecting me to have a GTT and a growth scan x

They won't base GTT on BMI at 28 weeks, BMI is a pointless measure during pregnancy (they will only use what it was at your booking appointment)
I think they are surprised because most people tend to have a risk factor (close family relative, high BMI, baby measuring big etc) but I never had one in my first pregnancy and only had one this time because it's twins

Depends on the hospital also, at uclh everyone has the test to glucose sensitivity and then if you score abnormal then you are offered GTT

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
