Am i doing something wrong? Previously he was feeding for 15-20 min every 2-3 hours. Now he wants to be nursing almost continuously. As soon as he comes off hes crying to go back in again. This is day and night.
He is currently 11 days old. Couldnit be a growth spurt? He falls asleep while nursing aswell.

Based off of personal experience the baby may not be getting enough milk or a growth spurt

This just came up on my for you bit, my baby is eight months old and has been glued to my boob today. I actually said to my fiancé how hard it would be to do the cluster feeding in this heat.
It is so normal, it is how they secure the milk supply but i can imagine it must feel so intense with the heat. You are doing a great job, the hardest part of breastfeeding is these early weeks. The worst for me was 2 weeks to six weeks, my partner would sometimes have to settle him in a different room at night so he couldn't smell me. It will be worse with the heat too!!
Try transfer him to your partner when possible so you can get a shower and a break. Try keep the room as cool as possible in this heat, and enjoy lots of skin to skin, keep hydrated and try find a good show to binge!! We went through so many in those early days x

I am having this issue right now but I think it's the heat

Cluster feeding is normal at this age and shouldn't be anything to worry about. He's just putting his order in for the future 😊 my only advice would be to accept it and embrace it. Make sure you've got a good nursing pillow and camp out in front of the TV for a little bit. Enjoy the cuddles and try to relax

As long as baby is growing i wouldn't worry that something is wrong, but if you are concerned speak to your midwives or health visitors.
A local breastfeeding group will also be able to support and the breastfeeding network offer resources and a helpline.

Thanks everyone xx

They clusterfeed what seems like every other day in the beginning. As long as your baby is having a good amount of wet & dirty diapers he is for SURE getting enough milk. That is how I was told to track my milk supply since I didn’t pump at all. Just make sure you are eating enough fatty foods through out your breastfeeding journey because that’s what helps your hindmilk which is what keeps baby full longer and grow. But it seems he’s just cluster feeding to get your supply to where he’ll need it after this growth spurt!

thank you x

we went through the same thing at that age. establishing your milk supply/ growth / comfort etc. so normal! you’re doing GREAT.

thank you this is incredibly helpful

I’m putting together a guide to support breastfeeding / feeding journeys x

Is baby having enough wet and dirty nappies a day? ( About 6/7 heavy wet nappies and 2 soiled mustard yellow nappies)
How do you feel about your supply?
Do you feed from both sides per feed?
Can you actively hear/see baby swallowing?
How is weight gain?
How is babies latch? Painfree/stays latched, no milk spilling?
Yes it absolutely could be clusterfeeding and normal baby behaviour but also important to consider the above
X

They have a cluster feeding period between 11 and 14 days old, it's intense but definitely normal and just a sign they're having a growth spurt! Mine did that and she started feeding normally again at about 13 days old 💕
