I saw on tiktok that someone said most white people dont bother taking a shower after being in the pool. But people of color definitely shower. I need to know why you aren't taking a bath/ shower

If it's the lake or creek, yes. But chlorine or salt water nah. I dont even bathe my kids every day.

@Carolšš thats interesting. Your not worried about the chemicals on their skin

I thought everyone did, every time we go to pool we all have a shower. Naturally I think everyone should, as pools arenāt necessary clean and think about how many people go in the pool! If there was a bath that had 5 people already use the water and then you got in it would you feel clean?

If you donāt shower after being in public bath water youāre mental

If I donāt rinse the chlorine off my skin I will get so itchy so I always do for me and my son

I just had to explain to my daughter why she needs to shower after being in the pool!

I always do because my hair and skin feels weird after chlorine. Sometimes I donāt bathe my kids after a lil dip in the pool or outside sprinkler or something tho because summer evenings are wild lol

We shower before and after using a pool. Donāt do either if itās in the sea / saltwater!

I always shower after

@DCšš©·š no. My kids dont have sensitive skin. Never had. If they did I would probably bathe them.

Agree with carol! The chlorine has never affected me. I always shower at night anyways so I just wait till then. I do try to rinse my kids if itās not bath night since my oldest has sensitive skin

If it's my pool, non chlorine yes we don't shower after lol š but if it's my neighborhood pool- chlorinated etc. We might not use soap bc I'm big on not over bathing š but yes we absolutely rinse after a public pool/ chlorine pool. Now given, it's late at night we are camping, situationally my kid passes out at 7 or 8pm before we can get home to shower.. I'm not waking them to shower them. I'll just do it in the morning š¤£š„°

Chlorine yes always shower after. Salt water pool or hot tub you don't have to shower after.

We all shower immediately after getting home from the pool.
The only time we didnāt was when we were camping and they took a nap and then we went right back to the water park.

Anytime we go swimming, no matter where, everyone is getting a bath/shower.

My little one is taking swimming lessons, and I have to be in the water with her. After spending time in the pool with a dozen other kids and their parents, I canāt bring myself to just rinse offāI definitely need a full shower with soap and shampoo. Letās just say itās not just the chlorine Iām trying to wash away!

if its the ocean, i never worry about showering after. my skin loves saltwater. if its a pool then šÆ shower rinse - im big on not over doing it with soap and shampoos but i definitely take a good post pool rinse.

We have a pool and rinse off with plain water after swimming. We are in and out of the pool a lot and it wouldnāt make sense to shower or bathe multiple times a day. If it were a public pool, we shower or bathe when we are done.

I always shower but like when I get home, I donāt take a full shower at the public pool place. But I definitely shower and wash my hair and then change into like new clothes to wear around the house. Iāll rinse off at the beach or at a public pool before putting normal clothes on, but if Iām keeping on my bathing suit then I just wait until I get home.

I saw this video too. Good lord the amount of people getting into their beds dirty at the end of the day is disgusting. Any time you step outside you should be taking a shower before bed, let alone swimming in ANY kind of water. Iām showering NO MATTER WHAT! and so are my kids. I donāt care if they have to wash their hair every single day. If we go swimming in any kind of water youāre showering your whole body.

I shower each time Iām in the lake, river, swimming pool, ect,.

Honestly it just depends on how tired I am or where I was swimming. If I'm exhausted and I was at a friend's pool then I'll just go to bed, but if I'm not too tired or if it was a public pool/natural body of water then I'll shower or at least rinse off.

Even if my son plays in his kiddie pool filled with hose water, I still insist on him taking a bath! On a regular basis I dont bother with daily bathing because it dries out the skin but DEFINITELY after any sort of swimming or playing in water.
So many people/kids pee in pools, we are not going to bed covered in chemicals or pee

My hair feels yuck so I shower and do a full body shampoo conditioner and body wash after the beach or pools

I've always heard that white people, specifically blondes need to wash very quickly because of the chlorine. I was a blonde child and washed immediately after, and still do. I also wash both my sons quickly after and they're both blonde

I shower for sure that night, but not always right after. Like we have swim at the Y, but then we have to finish our day before we can go home and shower. Maybe if I was by myself I would shower in the locker rooms, but I have my almost 2 year old and it's too much. Id rather bathe him at home before bed

𤮠Yeah we shower daily and we are definitely do an everything shower after being any form of pool.

I always shower after because I was on the swim team growing up and ok the locker room and pool germs and I get itchy if I dont

i know a lot of white people that don't shower after the pool, they be sending their kids (and themselves) straight to bed full of chlorine and bacteria š¤¢

I shower before & after.

We shower, wash & condition hair as my daughter and I both have curly hair and chlorine isnāt our friend. The only time I might consider not is if we swim Wednesday night & she has a swim lesson Thursday morning but even then we will shower just not wash her hair.
I hate smelling like chlorine!
If itās the beach itās literally the first thing I will do as I hate the feeling of been dry and salty š

ššš

It really depends. If it gets in my hair and the chlorine is strong I have to wash it. On the other hand, if it isnāt too strong it actually makes my hair more curly and I love the look š
Also, nearly every time I swim I donāt go home for a long time and at that point Iām already dressed and itās late so the last thing I want to do is shower.

Always shower a quick rinse under the showers at the pool and then a shower or bath when we get home

The showers at my local pool are absolutely freezing so we never use them! My little one gets a bath every night so that does the job āŗļø

I absolutely do, I also wash my hair because chlorine

i donāt know anyone, white, black, purple, sequined, polka dotted, who doesnāt shower after swimmingā¦

There's a whole section of the internet with white people / celebs talking loudly about not showering themselves or their kids until they smell so this can't come as a surprise š¤£

Tbh I go home and shower, I can't really shower the way I want in public.

they're the same people who probably don't shower much generally

I shower but I usually wait until I get home.

I generally don't like swimming but, if I was to go. I'd shower when I got home rather than in the changing rooms at the pool. My husband would call this as being 'prude' but, I just don't like or feel comfortable being naked around people. Changing rooms aren't exactly the most private of places. Although, I suppose I could shower with my swimsuit onš¤·š¼āāļø That would be more of a washing the pool water off me than a proper shower though. Am I overthinking this?

yes. Itās not an open shower everyone has their own closed cubicles w showers no one actually sees you shower unless itās the outdoor ones at the beach well then thatās just a rinse off. Sounds like youāve never done it? Itās separate showers

the last time I went swimming was when I was around 10 years old having swimming lessons. At the school the showers were never used, so when I went to my grandparents after school I'd have a bath & wash my hair because I hated the smell of chlorine. Or, the feeling on my body. Rather than wait until I got homeš

I have a rinse in the shower then when I get home I always have a proper wash. I remember a while ago there was a thing going round that white people only wash their legs sometimes when they have a shower. I am not shocked by this post.

school swimming lessons are an lil different they donāt have time to wait for 20 kids to have a full shower so the best they do is maybe a 2min rinse w your bathers on coz you have like, 10mins to get ready. I canāt believe you have a 5yr and 1yr but the last time you went swimming was when you were 10? Donāt you take your kids swimming? Anyways. Blows my mind lol. We go swimming twice a week in the summer.

White gal here. Regular swimmer. I shower before & after.
In the UK we used to have āpool dipsā where youād HAVE to rinse atleast your feet/legs before going in. They were taken away a few years ago now so Iām not sure why?

I will really blow your mind. I never swam at all growing up. I never went to the beach until I was an adult. I didnāt own a swimsuit. I get in water now with my kids but I donāt know how to swim. My parents donāt swim we just never did it. My father almost drowned as a child in a river so I think thatās why. Everyone is different.

In UK the swimming pools have showers. You rinse off after and before getting in the pool. After using the pool you use a shower cubicle and use soap and shampoo so you don't have to do it when you get home.
Do the US not have these?

I Iive in the US and I have gone to a pool that has showers but you bring your own soap. Growing up Iāve seen most people just stand under the water and then run into the pool, no-one actually showered and the workers did not enforce it
