Planned C-Section at PRUH

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to ask if anyone here has had a planned c-section at PRUH recently.

I’m due in 3 weeks and they’ve booked my date but I keep hearing different stories, so I was wondering if you could confirm.

Is it true that you might go to the hospital on the day of the surgery but they postpone it to a different date? I have heard stories where they have been sent home 3 days in a raw, is that true? Do you end up having the surgery on the day you have been assigned?

How has your experience with a planned c-section been?

I had an emergency section 2 years ago and I’m about to have my second surgery on the 7th Aug.

Would really appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks 😊

I’ve had an emergency and plan caesarean at Pruh. The planned one was about 4 years ago but they told us prior what time we had to be there.. I think a couple of days before.

we ended up being first on the list so had my daughter at 9am, was all very relaxed. I haven’t heard of it ever being postponed at all x

I had a planned c-section at PRUH last year (February) and it went super well. We had only a delay, I was first in the list but they needed some blood results, so I ended up been the third. But they were super good. They were calling and calling for the blood results and the surgeon even told me that no matter what I would have my c-section that day. I had a great experience with them.

Hi Anna, it was great. Nothing compared to my first. Everyone was amazing, I was out of the hospital within 24 hours.
I made sure I got up and walking within hours after the surgery which helped massively.
I’m almost a week postpartum and I feel great, still recovering but very active and the pain is almost completely gone. Barely even used my painkillers. Hope it goes well for you too.
Wish you the best of luck! 😊

ah that’s amazing! How was the care there overall?

I’m still thinking whether I should get an induction or a c section so want to know what to expect from midwives etc xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Owlet

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
