Jumped from 75th to 91st centile in weight

Has anyone else had this? Health visitor has just. Been and wants to see us again in 6 weeks time as my little girl has gone from steady on 75th to jumping to 91st centile, now I feed her when she wants I don’t stick to timing, just whenever I usually do 7-8 oz and she’s wanting a feed every 2-3 hours, like I’m not going to starve my child to keep them happy but it’s made. Me feel abit like a shit mum really wondering some others have had the same experience

My baby did similar, she went from around 83rd percentile to 98th percentile! They have random growth spurts and grow rapidly and then it will start to level out, I wouldn’t worry.

thank you! Just left me thinking I’ve done something wrong, she is short she’s on 9th centile for her hight but I’m only short so she was never going to be tall and I was chunky too just don’t wanna be judged for giving her what she wants when she wants x

Avatar

I've gone the other way, he's gone from 98th at birth to just under 50th but they're not concerned as he looks healthy. He's just a very long boy.

Avatar

no it’s nothing you’re doing! It sounds like she’s doing really well! They loose most of the chubbiness when they start crawling and moving about more anyway! X

Avatar

bless him, my girls very long too! Every baby is so different ! X

I had this when my little one was about 8 weeks. The health visitor told me to try get him to sleep if he’s tired? I’ve always fed him on demand when he’s wanted it. I was never gonna starve my baby. You’re doing exactly what you need to for your baby🤍

she sleeps amazingly Honestly, 10 hours on a night and will nap through the day roughly for an hour, we have active days on the play mat out and about x

Avatar

I just realised i wrote that wrong hahaha! 4 month sleep regression is taking over me😂🫠 health visitor told me to see he’ll sleep when he’s hungry which i was like wtf x

Avatar

Honestly don’t even worry 😂😂 some just. Don’t get. It do they lol x

Avatar

They really don’t!x

see she said she’s not concerned but wants to see me again as it’s a big jump? Now she’s only short so looks big aswell, she said 6 weeks but just been sent a text. For 2 week time 😮🤦🏻‍♀️

god knows, she has all her bottles she’s on 7-8 oz 8oz is mainly when shes had a more active day with playtime, she goes 2-3 hours between, I don’t make them before I do it when she’s starting her cues - she sounds like she’s shouting dink dink and she knows her bottle will come then- I love chunky baby’s I was one 😂😂 but she will have plenty Through the day and sleep 10 hours at night x

Avatar

exactly, I mean to me there’s no such thing as textbook baby and she’s definitely not, feeds when she wants and has what she wants, I hope so too! Some just have the need to be judgey x

Avatar

I'd probably not even make the appointment in 2 weeks. From everything you've said it sounds like there's nothing to worry about and it'll just make you worry unnecessarily.
Some babies are chunky but will lose the weight when they start moving more.
I don't even have a health visitor appointment until 9-12 months since my 8 week one so if they're so concerned about the weight of babies in between everyone would have more?

Avatar

they’ve made it for me they want to keep an eye on her weight ? Apparently if they jump up on centile they prefer to check incase underlying issues? I had 8 week health visitor then asked if I wanted one at 3/4 month to talk about BLW so I said yeah not knowing she’d put on all this weight I mean at 13-14 week she was just over a stone so I should have expected something but she said if they left a big gap from now till 9-12 and she gained too much weight In that time then they’d have more to try deal with than if they try figure it out now sort. Of thing

Avatar

ah okay that makes sense, just a precautionary thing. Hopefully she's just on a new curve now and will stay there going forward.

Avatar

hopefully, just wondered if others had been through similar and what was to be expected x

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
