I’m looking to hear people’s experience after having a c-section. I didn’t have the best experience with my first birth and the recovery personally for me was horrible! I’m scared to do vaginal delivery again as the risk to tear again is high, but I also know how painful a c-section can be. Please tell me how long the recovery period was for you and what I should be aware of. Or if you’ve also had a tear and delivered vaginally again what the experience was like. I really want to enjoy this birth as much as I can🙏🏼🥰☺️

I had an unplanned c section. Recovery took about 2 weeks but it was my first child so I got to rest a lot. Totally manageable with common pain killers.

I’ve had two csections and I’ve had worse period pain than their recovery. I loved my births, zero trauma and nothing but calm and happiness. Recovery both times was a few weeks, no drugs needed after 7 days and at Costco shopping on day 5.

I agree with Sarah. My periods were worse than any pain with c section. I actually wouldn’t describe my c section to me painful at all. Yes discomfort but never painful. I loved my c section. It was pure magic. Walked to the pub for lunch on day 3 x

I had an unplanned c section and it wasn't really painful, just sore. I would say just take it slowly afterwards so your stitches don't open up but I personally felt like the recovery to be able to do normal life things quite quick. If you have a child already though then you will need help - this was my first child so I could just sit on the sofa. It has taken longer to go running, gym etc but probably better than 3rd degree tear. If I had another baby I'd have a c section again x

I had a planned c section and I would definitely have another. The pain was no where near as bad as what it was made out (for me personally) it was manageable with the pain killers your provided with. I was up and walking 5 hours after the section. Was slightly uncomfortable for a few weeks but could manage day to day. Also started to drive after 2 weeks as I felt more or less back to my normal self (apart from being sleep deprived haha) I would 100% recommend to anyone who is considering xx

Planned c sections are the best.

I had a 4th degree tear with my 2nd and I'm definitely having a csection this time with my 3rd, my recovery was very long with the tear nearly 14 weeks before i was feeling good and I had lots of physio aswell for a year afterwards...I just can't risk that again and then having possible incontinence issues long term.

Had 2 c-section. 1st emergency, recovery was hard, baby wasn’t sleeping also but much less hard than I thought physically : after 1week pain was gone
2nd, planned, pain was awful the 1st 2 days only, then by the 3rd day was ok and 4th day I was almost thriving, playing with my toddler, climbing stairs.. very very easy.
The 1st movement are awful ofc, you think that it is impossible to recover, but then the more you move the easiest and the less pain you have ! It’s crazy how fast the pain go away ! At least it’s my experience

I had an elective section after having a 3rd degree tear with my first and it was a wonderful experience. Really calm, and so enjoyable. Felt very emotionally healing after my first as I wasn’t able to have skin to skin etc with my first, so I was able to have much more control over things with the section. Also just to not having the anxiety around whether I would tear again and to what extent, was significant. The initial couple of weeks of recovery was quite tough with having a toddler too, pain overnight, getting about etc but even so I wouldn’t have chosen differently. I’d say I was feeling pretty much back to normal by 6 weeks PP

Thank you guys so much! X

i had a 3rd degree tear with my first and am about to have my second. i'm going for another vaginal birth hoping to redeem my horrible experience from the first time 🙃
my OB said it's less likely to tear as much the second time is like a 10% chance, you're more likely to have no tear or a 1st or 2nd degree at most
