Do you use fabric softener on baby clothes?

There have been some posts on what detergent to use etc but I don’t think anyone talked about fabric softener…?
I am wondering if it might be nice to use some for newborn clothes to make them nice and soft but on the other hand, they are all fragranced and I would prefer to keep baby clothing fragrance free. Although I guess non bio detergent also has some fragrance already so perhaps can’t escape it 😅

Their skin can be too sensitive for softeners and smell would also be too strong for a newborn x

but the scent is likely the same as in detergents, so if they are safe then those should be too…? And why would their skin be too sensitive for softeners, where did you read this? Curious because I thought the point of softener is to make the fibers more pleasant on the skin so would have thought that’s a benefit for newborn skin.

You can get sensitive fabric softens like the detergents. Things like Comfort Pure, Ecover Non Bio fabric softener, Fairy Non Bio Fabric softener ect are all typically okay for babies, they are mostly gently scented or fragrance free but still help soften the fabric.

I used fairy non bio, fairy softener and fairy scent boosters with my son and his skin was absolutely fine. Will probably use fairy for the first couple of months with this baby and then will just wash with ours 🤷🏼‍♀️. Pretty sure we only washed separately for that long with my son and then started chucking everything in together cause I was fed up of having loads of washing to do

White vinegar softens with no smell.

I just use non bio pods which is apparently recommended for babies and still smells nice but not overpowering xx

I use surcare as it has no fragrance. My older daughter has had eczema and has worked well with her so going to continue using for our new baby too

I just looked into surcare, these sound great! I also discovered that M&S makes fragrance free detergent & softener, I think I will go for one of those brands! My gut feeling tells me that going fragrance free is the way to go, and not just for eczema… newborns love their mums scent the most so why mask it up with fragrance?! Just my reflections today!

Autism

I have been noticing everyone I know that as a boy 2-5 years has been diagnosed with autism. Has anyone else noticed this or maybe I’m just noticing this out of concern for my 10 month old boy.

Swing or bassinet

We've been co-sleeping/bed-sharing with our one month old (5 weeks tomorrow) since she and I came home from the hospital. While I love the cuddles I do want our bed back too. I will add too, that we try to make it as safe as possible and want her in a safe situation. She doesn't like sleeping by herself, however we've been putting her in her swing (pic below) close to daily, since she came home and at first she only liked it for a few minutes, now it could be an hour, before she protests, asleep or awake! She likes the music and rocking motion it seems and seems fascinated by the mobile when she's awake and not sleepy. We can probably get her used to the bassinet in a similar way, but I'm wondering if we should just get two of these? My husband says the music would drive him crazy, lol, but we could just do it with white noise and see if it has the same effect. He's saying it's probably good for her to learn how to sleep in different conditions. I do agree, as our older daughter can't take naps at friends' houses and stuff. Just not sure of the best route here. Anyway tia!

How do you cosleep?

I know all about sleep safe 7, the dangers of cosleeping etc etc, but there seems to be a huge difference between online and people I meet in real life. Most people I know report cosleeping, but online its villainised more.
No judgement here - I'm just genuinely curious what people are actually doing!

Comments if its something different.

Our baby has her own cot. She sleeps well in it until early morning and then only sleeps if shes on/next to me. I'll also admit to having fallen asleep breastfeeding several times (no lectures, she's safe - but other people have said they've done the same).

Cry

Hey! I just need some advice, please.

My nearly 6 week old girl is so unsettled. She eats well and naps well, however when she’s awake she’s fine for about 5 minutes and then starts crying. I settle her, but 5 minutes later it happens again. This goes on until her next feed.

I’m convinced she hates me 😓 What am I doing wrong?

I change her nappies (sometimes too often 😁) I feed her (Kendamil formula 4oz around every 2-3 hrs) and I always make sure she burps. We go for walks, I play with her, and I let her sit in her bouncer. I’ve literally tried everything but she still seems so unsettled after just 5 minutes 😢😢
