27c Bedroom

Is a 0.5tog sleeping bag and nappy a good option for sleeping in this weather? The bedroom is 27c and we’ve tried everything to cool it down but baby boy won’t sleep if his legs are out?! Toes are far too interesting! 🙃

I’m so paranoid about SIDS! Our room is 29c and I’ve just put my little one down in just a loose vest.

Avatar

Yeah that’s fine! We do the exact same nappy & sleepbag no problem ☺️ I sometimes still have her in a short sleeved vest for when the temp dips in the night xx

Avatar

thank you!! I was considering the vest too but was thinking of considering it if he wakes up! Bring on the cooler weather! 🤣

My girls is in a 0.5 together sleep and just nappy. Also have fan oscillating to try and move the air around the make it feel a bit cooler for her.

Avatar

My room is 30! I’ve just put a vest but will remove to just nappy if need be. We have a fan circulating

My daughter won’t sleep without the sleep sack either so she’s in a 0.5tog and a nappy. It’s 27.4 in her room 😞

Avatar

I'm worried now my baby is just in a nappy is she undressed?!

Avatar

You can get 0.2tog as well which is basically like a sheet!

I live in the UK, so no AC and the best we have is a fan in our rooms, so the inside temp is usually only a few degrees lower than what’s outside, so it was 31c yesterday and our rooms vary from 30-26 during the day/night! Very tricky to choose the right things as the temps change throughout the night!😊

I think I’ve read somewhere that a baby will let you know if they’re cold but might not if they’re too hot! If I knew he’d sleep without a sleep sack I think I would, he just loves his feet! So I have to hide them!

Avatar

that's true thank you! I'd rather need to add a layer! awww bless him! 😂

Avatar

I have the same room temperature but I run a ceiling ventilator as well as an electric fan next to the crib. I only put a light sleep sack on my baby, no other layers (except of course a nappy) I use a Muslin cotton sleep sack from Amazon I think it’s 0.5 tog it’s super light weight

Avatar

It depends on the room temperature I suppose! Our room was 25 degrees when we put our baby to sleep at 7pm last night. We left him in a nappy. I knew the temperature would probably drop to around 22 degrees in the night and then he would be too cold so I set an alarm for the middle of the night, checked how he felt (a little cold) then shut the windows.

I’m surprised at the amount of people who put their babies in vests when their rooms are closer to 30 degrees but then I suppose every baby is different? 🤷‍♀️

Avatar

our sleep sack is the same, feels more breathable than a vest anyway! We had our fan running pretty much the whole day and I feel like It’s done nothing! Even opened the attic hatch to vent the air! Let’s hope we go down to a nicer warm temperature soon

Avatar

i'm so glad it's not just me. I totally get every house is different and every room is going to be a different temperature but the way it feels in my bedroom and the way her chest feels there's no way I can justify putting a vest on her. I'd panic way too much. I'd rather her wake me up crying because she's cold and put another layer on her!

Avatar

I was told to always go on the cooler side. They'll wake up if they're cold and it's not as dangerous.

Saying that we try every single option under the sun and every night even if it's the same temp as the night before she might prefer a completly different sleep option.

She won't sleep with the big fan on, so that's no help!

We've had, just a nappy, just PJ's (short sleeve and loose trousers), just a short sleeve, nappy and 0.5 tog. It's just a guess and see if that's the one option that works that night 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

Everything is just scary no matter what you do. I couldn't even use a 0.5 tog sleeping bag as I felt like it was too big around her neck. She's quite a small baby and I was too scared of her suffocating herself, I panic about everything haha. She uses a cellular blanket which she seems to like but she kicks that off in the night so yeah🤷🏼‍♀️ I tried to use the love to dream swaddle but my god she hated it! massive waste of money that was, I have 3 haha

Avatar

Id do nappy and light cellular blanket. X

My girl’s room is 27 degrees too and she’s only sleeping with a nappy on or spaghetti straps bodysuit at a push.

Avatar

We are in the same situation. We have brought his cot mattress and a bed rail downstairs and we are sleeping in the living room. His bedroom is 29c

My little boy sleeps in his nappy only in this heat

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
