Next to Me vs Moses Basket

First time mum to be here looking for some advice! ☺️

Would you recommend investing in a Next to Me crib or going with a Moses basket for when baby first arrives?

So far, everyone I’ve asked has been completely split down the middle, and I keep hearing pros and cons for both 😅

Both.
Moses basket for when baby is first born - first 8 weeks.
Next to me for after that when they’re a bit bigger

I'm expecting my second daughter and we will be doing the same this time around as we did with our first. When she's first born, use the moses basket for day naps and then at night time, put the moses basket inside the next to me so she can get used to it and then after a week or two, get her used to the next to me by itself for night time.

I'd recommend both but at different points but they both get used a lot so they are definitely worth the money x

We got both. Baby hates both 🫠

I had my second in June and only used the next to me this time around instead of a moses basket. I much preferred it, and the baby slept much better in the bigger next to me compared to her sister, who had a moses basket.

I’m planning on using a Moses basket downstairs and next to me upstairs

My girl was in a Snuzpod 4 from birth to just over 6m and has now moved to a cot.

If you’ve got the funds for both, I’d suggest a next to me by the bed and a Moses downstairs or in your living area so that if you need your hands free there’s somewhere safe and off the floor for baby to go.

If you’ve got the funds for just one, I’d go with a next to me. They last for up to 6m (maybe a bit longer if you’ve got a smaller baby and they’re not pulling themselves up yet), whereas Moses baskets are meant for newborns and then you’d have to get a next to me anyways.

We had a Moses Basket and it lasted 6 weeks (she was born 7lbs 3oz), then went to the Next to Me, we had a Dock-a-Tot so won’t be getting a Moses this time, was pointless.

A next to me has a completely different function. As you can cosleep with your baby while your baby is in the own space if that makes sense :).

I have a next to me in the bedroom (I leave the flap open) and a moses basket in the living room.

Moses basket for day time naps
Next to me for bed time

I’d get a cheap Moses basket though. They don’t last very long. And lots of babies don’t like them anyway. But it’s needed for putting baby down in the day time 🤣

I plan to have both, next to me for bedroom then Moses for lounge area. I did thag with my first

I've got both. A next to me for the bedroom and moses basket for down stairs x

My first hated the Moses basket, fine in the next to me.

My second hated anything which wasn’t cosleeping.

I personally wouldn’t bother with a Moses basket. You don’t need one down one up. Baby should be in the same room as you anyway for the first six months which meant daytime sleep was supervised so we just used a nest instead. Fraction of the cost and last just as long as a Moses basket if not longer. And way easier to store if you plan on having more

We had both for baby 1. Used Moses basket downstairs and next to me in our bedroom but the Moses basket was gifted to us and we just bought a new mattress x

We have both. Moses basket downstairs and a next to me upstairs. Although if your stuck for space, my sister just used a moses basket for her babies, which she was able to take up and downstairs with ease! It depends on what you find would work best for you and your space x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
