Baby blues

I’m 10 day pp and have been home from the hospital for 4 days after a pretty stressful stay. I’m feeling what I hope is just baby blues and nothing more sinister or long term. Very tearful, and keep just getting these feelings of dread, I also just don’t want any visitors and want to be alone.

Does this sound similar to any of you and if so, how long will it last?

This sounds completely normal, I felt the exact same after having a pretty traumatic birth! I just cancelled and put off visitors until I felt completely ready for at least two weeks and just allowed myself time to rest and feel my feelings! I felt tearful for about a week (and still get tearful sometimes now), but as long as the good feelings are outweighing the bad and if you are unsure speak to your midwife or anyone around you!

This does sound normal but if you are worried, please speak to your GP. Hormones are wild, be kind to yourself x

10days.. is still short for this to be the case.

Give it a few weeks to balance out.

And if your stay was stressful i would expect blues to last a bit longee too

Give urself grace

But well done for the self awareness required to notice something could be off x

Hey love. I feel this too, we had a five day stint, failed induction with awful midwives and it resulted in emergency section. I've done nothing but cry since coming home because of how tired I was leading up to birth, it's just worsened from there. It's normal for your mood / emotions to crash because of hormones. My partner even broke down and cried on me today. All our friends tell us it's completely normal, almost as if it's a right of passage. We've thought we made a mistake, we've thought we couldn't do it, yet every day as we learn baby and her motions, it's getting that little bit easier. It's perfectly okay to be slightly traumatised / need time for things to sink in before you let others in too. We are just at the stages of accepting visits but only if they're happy to help us and we are comfy with them seeing us at our worst, not just to sit and hold baby. It's your home, your child, your rules. Don't feel any way about that. If it gets too bad, please seek help. I'm under the perinatal mh team &..

They've been amazing throughout pregnancy and I know they'll be able to help me beyond if things get tough. The only advice I can give honestly is to accept the help where it's offered. You're proving nothing in turning it down, especially if you're overwhelmed. I know it means you have to 'people' but this is the one and only time you can afford to be honest and tell them it's not pretty, you're still recovering and need help where possible xx

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲
