I’m 3days pp and my milk has come in fully, baby yesterday morning seemed happy on the breast but didn’t feed the magic 3 hours everyone is touting (I’m taking as rough guidance). He just woke up from the first part of the night and would not stop screaming, I tried offering both boobs and he was screaming the house down wouldn’t go near them whatsoever. I tried a tiny bit of pre-made formula and he gulped it down and then seemed happy to jump on one boob but has anyone experienced this? It’s frustrating me so bad

I'm 4 days pp and also struggling tonight with breastfeeding!
We had such a successful night last night with my milk coming in, but tonight hes also not settling on the boob. Like he'll drink some, but then cry on the boob.
Ive been thinking of giving a bottle like you just for it to be easier. But it makes me sad to think of not breastfeeding anymore
Sorry ive no help or advice for you, but jist wanted to say youre not alone in the breastfeeding night time struggle!

Hiya, I'm 7 days pp and I feel this, having issues with my LO falling asleep on the boob after half an hour or so and putting her down, midwives are saying she's lost too much weight and that feels really heavy. Some of the things I've worked out have really helped, sometimes she hasn't been warm enough; equally sometimes too warm and needs a layer off. Sometimes she's had a killer poop on the way, has ended up with reflux / wind and that's just her way of communicating. We have worked on deepening her latch (my positioning was terrible BC of c section soreness) and now have also learnt to feed from the same boob fairly consistently until baby tells me it's empty (there's a thing called foremilk which isn't as fatty that comes first and I found I was switching up breasts too often and she was only getting this & not any of the good fatty stuff). Sometimes she's quite worked up and it takes a clean pinkie finger in her mouth to chew on first while soothing to remind her that she's hungry.

Sometimes they genuinely get so worked up they forget why they're crying, it's probably got nothing to do with your milk but it's so hard, I 100% feel you and can't lie, not a day goes by I don't consider opening the kendamil I bought as backup. I have had engorgement since milk came in too, so worth considering if the size of your breast / nipple is making it hard for baby to latch. I have to sit her up parallel to my nipple and kind of compress it for her to latch well.

Here's some really really helpful information from a lactation consultant we saw at antenatal and some of the advice has been life saving. Ultimately, breastfeeding isn't worth your mental health so do not feel any obligation if it just isn't working out. You're doing brilliantly 🫶🏻

Currently experiencing this with my little girl. We realised combi feeding worked out best for me and her.
Start off with boob and then top up with a little formula. She’s full, milk supply hasn’t gone down and we’re both happier.
We went through 2 nights of the screams before I put together she wasn’t getting enough from me as I was only 4 days PP.
just ensure you’re pumping too, it’ll up your supply and stay hydrated! X
ah I’m so sorry you are going through the same! It was never this hard with my first and just tearing my hair out currently!
thanks Charlie! All super helpful, never had this with my first so currently tearing my hair out as it was so easy first time round. But from reading I think my milk has come in too forcefully and boobs are super engorged (v v painful and bad timing for my pump to have stopped working) so have done what you mentioned and just consistently feeding from one boob in the hope he doesn’t just get the foremilk.
