Slept through the night

Baby girl will be 4 weeks tomorrow and she just slept through the night 12am- 8:40am (and still sleeping) the internet says if she’s eating well there’s no concern.. do I wake to feed her right now or do I pump? My boobies are SORE lol

Following as I’m curious too with my 4 week old!

Avatar

My doctor said wake my daughter if it’s longer than 5 or 6 hours because their blood sugar can drop too low. I’d feed her then pump.

Avatar

Even with her sleeping through the night for newborns they sleep every 2-3 possibly 4 hours because we have to change them and feed them— they aren’t equipped yet to sleep through the night til 6m+

I’ve been letting her lead and wake up if she wakes me up, I wasn’t expecting her to sleep so long so I woke up like omg she didn’t wake up to eat

Avatar

I do the same with mine but I still follow the schedule so that my baby doesn’t soil her dippers. My baby is 1m so she sleeps 4hours and I change her every 4hrs

My ped had said once they got to their birth weight and exceeded ut, it was ok to let them sleep through the night

thank you! That’s what I was thinking too

Help how do I help mine sleep through the night? 😅😂

I read something that said a lot of contact napping during the day helps baby sleep better at night. I had my baby wrapped to my chest for like 3 hours yesterday and then she was in my lap feeding the rest of the day so I wonder if all that contact helped? We’re also cosleeping so she sleeps longer stretches because of that. She only lasts an hour or two in her bassinet

My doctor just told me today to wake up my baby every 2-3 hours to feed as they need to feed. I was confused as my midwife said it was fine and that baby knows when he’s hungry. Very confusing

Avatar

I was told doctors are very “by the book” and pretty much have to tell you that. If your baby is gaining weight you can go based off their hunger cues. I’ve been going by “never wake a sleeping baby” babies will always wake up when they’re hungry

Cosleeping saved my sleep woth my first. Im nervous to co sleep before baby can roll/nervous to cosleep with newborn so wevare waiting. Looking forward to Cosleeping to get more sleep and not have to get out of bed to nurse. My first we didn't co sleep till like 6 months or something but I want to co sleep sooner with this one now that we are more educated on co sleeping and how to do it safely.

If you’re trying to keep your milk supply you need to pump every couple hours in the night so your supply doesn’t go away. But no you don’t need to wake her. You can always keep it in the freezer.

it’s definitely nerve wracking sleeping with a newborn but I’m such a light sleeper/ don’t roll around so I feel comfortable doing it. My husband on the other hand can’t sleep at all with her in the bed because every little movement or noise wakes him up and he can’t get back to sleep

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.

Help! First time mum -

I have a 4 month old and now all of a sudden when he’s been asleep for 1hr30/2hrs he will wake up screaming (high pitched) I’ve tried winding him sometimes that helps, I’ve tried bicycle legs & bringing his knees up but that doesn’t seem to help but he brings his knees up himself sometimes but nothing happens. I’ve noticed since the 4 month mark he has started to struggle passing wind downwards! Any tips?

Big nursing bras!

I’m looking for recommendations for good nursing bras for bigger breasted ladies!

I’m currently in a 38H which seems to be the biggest size done at M&S (UK based mama here) and it’s snug and not as supportive as I’d like. When I look online, they mainly seem to be sized S, M, L, XL etc rather than bra sizes.

Any recommendations please?

Bath Time

Help! My baby is 3 and a half weeks old. Every bath she goes in quite happy but will only stay like this for a very few mins, if I try to clean her or move her we have tears and after a few mins the same. It's like she is scared. Our current baby bath is quite big should I try a different one? Looking for any suggestions as want her to enjoy bath time not be upset and I'm scared I'm going to make her hate it😢💗

Strange question

Hello. I would identify myself as asexual but yes i am married and i have a child. But now that ive had my baby. I think its solidified that im done having sex. I feel bad as my partner keeps asking me but i just dont want to. Any advice on what i can do? Any other asexual moms out there? I guess this could be confusing but im not huge on being bound by a label. I have just always felt it represented me best since highschool.
