Fussing at the breast

Baby girl just turn 4 weeks and has started to fuss at the breast, she pulls away and when I take her off she cries and wants to be put back, then rinse and repeat non stop. She has also started doing very short feeds she used to normally feed for 20mins she now does 5 and wants off.. Surely this is not enough?

She does seem to suffer from silent reflux, so I burp her often and keep her upright after feeds, but Im wondering if this is why she doesn't want to feed properly anymore?

I offer both boobs, I burp her, I try different positions, I am now just left wondering what's wrong? I also thought maybe I'm low on supply as my boobs aren't as hard anymore, but if I express milk shoots out

Any ideas?

A typical feed is 5-40 mins. Some babies are more efficient than others, as long as there’s plenty of wet & dirty nappies, and weight is increasing then don’t worry about time. You’re doing great mama šŸ’– your breasts also soften up as your milk regulates so don’t worry about not having enough, especially if the above applies. Be careful if you decide to use Infacol as mentioned in another comment - very acidic & makes reflux worse xxx

My baby has only ever fed for 5 minutes really and he’s gained loads of weight. 5 minutes is fine. You probably have a fast let down and great supply like me x

To the mums of 2 kids

When and how did you know to have your second? My son doesn’t sleep well but this is the only difficulty we have with him, he’s an absolute angel otherwise. Me and my husband do want another, but when do you know when to try? My son is 9 months, and I think I want one sooner rather than later, so I don’t have to get used to sleep and no nappies to go through it all again. But then I question if I could cope with 2, or do you just get on with it?

Baby bouncers

Are baby bouncers good for kids to use from 6 months keep hearing it isn’t? Anyone else brought a bouncer for their child ? And hasn’t had a problem

I just want a day off.

I am EBF, so it’s not an option really. I doubt he would take a bottle at nearly 5 months and my plan was to feed until at least 6 months, but most probably beyond that. BF is easy in a way too!

The sleep regression has been wild. It’s getting me down. I just want one longer stretch of sleep. Not feeding every 30 mins-2 hours overnight. I resent my partner because of it, the freedom he has. He doesn’t even need to ask, he can just go somewhere alone. I have to ask for a break.

I really enjoyed motherhood up until now, where the lack of sleep is getting to me.
