10th Percentile

Hi, I’ve just had a scan at 28 weeks. Baby girl is sitting on the 10th percentile. Can any other mamas who have had a baby measure low tell me what happens? Was baby born okay? I’m worried about a nicu stay if she continues this small until birth 😕

Mine was tracking 6-10th centile the whole time. He was born perfectly fine at 39 weeks and was 9th centile.

aww bless him. How much did he weigh in the end?

Mine was always tracking on the smaller side and growth slowed towards the end of pregnancy, but she was born perfectly healthy at 6lbs 3oz (9th centile). She did drop centiles after about 8 weeks as she started sleeping more overnight (i.e. skipping a feed), but we got her back up to 9th with support from my local infant feeding team. I don't think NICU would be needed unless the baby drops too much weight after birth (10% is the limit) so just keep the focus on feeding for the first few weeks to make sure they're getting enough. Small babies are a money saver as they don't grow out of their clothes nearly as fast 😂

oh this is so reassuring 🥺. We’ve been buying 0–3 months but I think we’re going to go buy some first size clothes 😂

My son was 5.6lbs when he was born, he is now 17 weeks and still tracking 9th Centile about 6kgs now, but developmentally fine so far.
I’d say get a few newborn baby grows and in a couple of weeks they will be fine in 0-3!

aww bless him. Yeah that’s what I’m going to do, thank you xx

I was put into high risk just to monitor baby’s weight . My baby was in the 11th percentile for the longest time. he was born 7lbs 7oz , after 30weeks his weight just shot up babys tend to gain the most weight 30-40weeks

aww that’s reassuring x

@Nova my LG is coming up to 8 months and still fits in 3-6m 😂 she was in tiny baby sizes for a while

Yes! And my baby just recently fit into 0-3months , I would buy some newborn clothes he wore newborn for at least a month and I would say he born average size

oh gosh how adorable 🤭

yeah my son was born 8lbs 5 and he was in newborn for a few weeks so definitely going to go out and get her some

My little girl ranged from under the 5th centile to 17th. At one point they suspected IUGR and thought my placenta might not be working properly and I’d have to deliver early etc. However she caught up at the end of the pregnancy and was born perfectly healthy on 10% centile at 6lbs 3 ounces. At her six week check she’s 9lbs 13 ounces around 33rd centile so she shot up fast ! I spent so much of the pregnancy worried but she is absolutely perfect, and the right size for her. Every baby is different

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
