My baby still wakes every 2 hours at night to feed. I’m EBF and we co-sleep, so it’s easy enough to just roll over and nurse, but she still wakes 5–10 times a night. She’s never been a great sleeper.
During the day, I work from home and she needs to nurse to fall asleep—and to stay asleep. No pacifier, won’t take a bottle. Unless I’m holding her or she’s in the stroller, she wakes up if the boob isn’t in her mouth.
I honestly don’t know how people put their babies down in a crib! It would be amazing to get some work done during naps without having to nurse her back to sleep every time I move.
Please tell me it gets better, lol.

Hi mamma! I feel you on it. Mines is 14 months and we still wake up multiple times a night. Never got to the sleep through the night phase 😅

Sounds like it’s habitual, may need to look into ways to change her habits and have her sleep on her own and get used to a bottle. My 14m twins have been sleeping through the night since 4m, but I trained them pretty early to fall asleep on their own in their crib. One of them was particularly fussy so it took more work to help her self soothe. Naps are pretty much the same, I just put them down and they’re out after 10min or so for about 1.5-2hrs. I suggest looking up some YouTube videos on how to get her to sleep better on her own, I relied on Emma Hubbard videos and the sleep blogs on Happiest Baby’s website. Good luck!

Waking every 2 hours sounds within the realm of normal but 10 wakeups per night might mean something else is going on.
Any medical red flags like reflux, open mouth breathing or snoring, extreme restlessness while sleeping, allergies, oral ties?

hi girly, my 9 month old is similar she wakes to nurse back to sleep. wakes can be between 4-8 times in a night! she doesn't take a dummy either (mainly uses me as one) xxx stay strong you got this xx remember wakes are normal x

Pediatric Sleep Consultant here 👋🏼 — I know how exhausting this is, and I want you to hear that you’re not doing anything wrong. This is an extremely common situation, but the honest truth is that it won’t get better until your little one has the chance to practice falling asleep without nursing. Right now, she has a very strong feed-to-sleep association, and as long as that remains the only way she knows how to fall asleep, the frequent wakings will continue.
It would also mean moving her out of your bed — not because I’m bashing co-sleeping, but because it’s incredibly difficult to set and hold new boundaries in the middle of the night when you’re exhausted and she’s right next to you.
I’ve helped so many families in this exact spot continue their breastfeeding journey while setting limits around when it happens and creating healthier sleep habits — and they’re always so thankful they did. 💛 Once you make that change, it does get better — for both of you.

My little one is 10 months and has never slept through the night. I’ve tried a routine recently with magnesium baths, lotions and drops. But she wakes up at midnight every night looking for a bottle or boob. Falls back asleep, but then wakes up multiple times thereafter.
