I did the first few weeks breastfeeding my first and had to move to combo feeding and at about 4 months began only formula feeding, I have nothing against formula as it quite literally saved me and my girl and I’ve got perfectly healthy nieces and nephews who were all formula so please no “breast is best” just curious if anyone else had a similar experience and what they did with the second. I know I want to formulate Fred again but I also want to bond from breastfeeding so I’m thinking I just handle it the way I did last time and do combo feeding.

I had to do the same with my first. I didnt make enough milk and the stress of trying to do both really flared up my post partum anxiety. I went full formula right around that 4 month mark. Im not even planning for #2 yet but I would try again and just have everything set up to combo feed although I would prioritize breastfeeding and the second time around I would have a lactation consultant come work with me right away too.

I combo fed for first 7 months with my first until I switched fully to formula.. I don't have a 2nd yet but im hoping to become A SAHM when I get my 2nd so is life to try to fully breastfeed... cuz I think it was pumping that ruined it with my first

I tried pumping again but I had D-MER just as bad so it was a solid no go. And as a SAHM with a husband with no paternity leave if I fell into any state of depression I knew I would not get out of it and it would not be safe for my children or me. Formula literally saved me and my children’s life

With my son, I did both formula and breastfeeding. He took more to formula than milk because I was working and a full time student. Didn’t know anything about pumping. With my daughter I tried formula but she liked breast milk better and then with my current, I will probably just breastfeed cuz I like the thought of not seeing my period for two years lol

I didn’t produce BM with my 1st, my 2nd was IUGR & couldn’t get enough calories with BM even if I had been a producer. Honestly though, I’ve never had any trouble getting that bond without it, plus with my 2nd my husband got to get in that bonding too. We just took off our shirt, cradled him, but fed formula. I also knew how sleep deprived I was from 3 weeks of weighted feeds every 2hrs around the clock with my first, I tried everything I could to get that milk in, I did have some colostrum w/ my 2nd, so I just used it in place of some water for the formula those few days and I tried to keep that up, but it wasn’t long bf I was dry again, didn’t even hurt to dry up, it was just gone. Plus sides is I got to sleep half the night from birth with my’21 baby & my husband & I get to both be that most trusted parent, so we split those tantrums & clingy times. He asked me what he could do to get that bond I kept warning him not to be jealous of, so I told him how I thought it might be offset.

Yep wasn’t able to BF my first (4lb 6oz and was just literally too small to latch). Exclusively pumped for 4 months then moved to combi then formula only.
Just finished exclusively BF my second, 13 months.
