Maternity Allowance

I don’t know how long it takes but following as I need to know also. Xx

Think I got a text within a couple of days to say it has been received and I’d get a decision within 4 weeks. Can’t remember exactly how long it took but wasn’t far off.

I sent it off when I was just over 26 weeks pregnant, I heard back when I was just over 30 weeks - so a month. Then had to pay my NI early - heard from them pretty quickly with them saying how much I had to pay to get the full amount and within a week of me paying that I then got a new letter from hmrc with the maternity allowance upped to maximum.

Do you get it if you're getting maternity pay from work? Or is it one or the other?

I did it last week - got a message saying it will take about 4 weeks x

I got a decision in 4 weeks from sending the documents over

I’m self employed I applied I think 2 month before due date and got my first pay 6 weeks later. But I asked for it earlier so they paid me in two parts for what I was missing x
