Meet Colter! Had my baby boy today at 41 weeks exactly. He was 8lbs 12oz and 22in long. We went in for my midwife checkup at noon. I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced and baby was at -2 station. So I requested a membrane sweep. I was having contractions the whole way home and then consistently getting stronger for two hours after. That’s we decided it was go time. We went back to the birth center and I was 4.5cm dilated and baby was at 0 station. I walked around for an hour and then was at 6.5cm. It was then that I got in the tub to relieve the contraction pain. About an hour after that, I felt the need to push. He was out 10-15 min later. I was so glad I got to do it completely my way. Used the birth center with my midwife and doula, had freedom of movement with no IV and portable fetal monitoring, no medication, no vaccinations, no medical interventions. Didn’t plan on the water birth but it just happened and I’m ok with that. I just followed my body’s lead.
