Can anyone tell me what the tonie toy does and whether it’s worth the money? And if so what age is it for? I keep seeing people talking about it, but have never heard of it before. With Christmas coming up I’m wondering if it’s worth looking into getting one.

Its a Tonie box so not a toy as such. You put characters on and it plays stories or songs. My daughter got hers last Christmas at 2.5 and loves it still but a lot of people get them younger.

The box is called a toniebox, and you put little characters on it called tonies. The characters play stories or songs. You have to have the box in order to play the tonies, they are useless on their own.
We got it for my son's first birthday and he loves it

There's something called the yoto as well, we got the mini which is very portable, less money, and has more longevity because the little figures will seem childish at some point. I think they're both fab products really, but the yoto has been an absolute life saver in the car, my daughter loves hers. We got it for Christmas last year, so she was nearly two and she worked out how to use it immediately! I'd just Google tonie box and look at their website and do the same with yoto. They both do basically the same thing, just the Tonie has been made a bit more cutesy with the little characters!

It's not a toy. It's a box that you get figures for to put on top of it and they sing songs & tell stories. It's a way of stopping your child from having too much screen time.

They have just brought out "my first tonies" designed for 1+ it's farm animals and things.
I know lots of people that have one and love it and use it as part of their bedtime routine.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I’m much clearer on what it is now. Does anyone know the difference between the original and the toniebox 2?

Toniebox 2 comes with a game setting, not sure how it works or why there is a need to shoehorn games into everything

My daughter has had her since she was 1 she's now 4 it is used every day. You buy figures that sit on top and it plays the songs or stories, she loves it as you can buy her favourite characters e.g. trolls, paw patrol, encanto

I heard the yoto is meant to be really good and better value for money

We got my son one when he was 6 months and we use it for everything, playtime, bedtime also teeth brushing time. It has a lot of figures on the tonie app you can buy which u can't find in store with some really good options. My son now won't fall asleep without the whale sleep tonie on every night 😂 it's also a night light which is amazing
