Cosleeping / baby not settling in own bed

Has anyone else’s newborn not spent a single night in their own bed yet? 😅 10 days pp and my baby boy won’t settle in his own bed yet, he naps in it but that’s as far as it goes! He sleeps way better in with us which I know we can’t really keep up forever… we do it safely, with bed bumpers and no blanket etc but I still worry. Although I’m happy he sleeps reasonably well tucked in next to me 💗 anybody else in the same situation? (Had to put a picture of him having cuddles 🥺)

What kind of bed bumpers do you mean as they aren’t recommended at all by the Lullaby Trust. And also it’s very normal for babies not to like their next to me as they find them too big and cold.

What you could do is warm the bedsheets up before popping your little one in with a hot water bottle for a couple of minutes. Sleeps with their bedsheets so it smells like you or if you have a Moses basket pop the basket into the next to me to make it smaller x

Girl same! Three weeks post partum and my little girl hates her crib - but only at night lol. She peacefully sleeps in it during the day but at night as soon as I think about putting her down her eyes fly open and she’s wide awake to the point where sometimes I can’t get her to go back to sleep lol. She sleeps much better on me or in our bed so we’ve been keeping her with us so we can also get some proper sleep (even if it’s just 1.5-2 hours).

For me personally, heating the bedsheet didn’t really help. I think it’s my smell or something that helps her drift off better.

As someone said, double check bed bumpers as depending on what you use it might not be safe.

What do you mean you can't keep cosleeping up forever😆? I coslept till my eldest was over 2. We then moved her to her own double bed. Me or my husband fall asleep with her and if she wakes up in the night we get into bed with her (not both lol either one of us lol). It works for us. I know some people have their opinions about it but I don't care. She always falls asleep eith someone she loves.

Same! We’ve co-slept since night 1 because it was the only way I got any sleep with my eldest. Don’t worry about creating bad habits, my eldest started sleeping in her cot from 5.5 months once she could roll both ways and we didn’t do anything different, she was just suddenly ready! Xx

I'm I. The same boat only way my little girl will sleep is on me at night during the day she will sleep anywhere and in anything but as soon as its "bed time" she will not transfer to her next to me we have tried having the bassinet in the next to me

i’m co sleeping with my 8 day old baby, i’m just trying to do it as safe as possible and researching, otherwise i wouldn’t get any sleep xx

Have you tried swaddling? Only way my youngest sleeps in his cot but it didn’t work for my other baby he slept with me for months 🙈 it doesn’t last forever he started sleeping in his own bed once he moved from a next to me to a cot

So glad I found this post. Exactly the same for us / he sleeps during the day in his docatoc and Moses basket but at night no way he’s sleeping longer than 15 minutes in the next to and we’ve done all the tips and tricks to try. After I finish with these painkillers we’re going to try co sleeping as it feels the most natural and once my partner goes back to work I’m going to need sleep as I find myself dosing off while breast feeding and it scares me if my partner’s not in the room. Just want to do it safely. Are you guys doing it on your back with baby ln chest or on side with baby? X

I’ve always Co-slept with my babies, it’s the only way I get any sleep. I decided not to get a cot this time around because it just goes to waste but I’ve been a tiny bit more successful with my 3 week old in the next to me but he still ends up in our bed at some point , he just likes being cocooned next to me like he’s still in my womb. We have better luck leaving him in the next to me during the day time xx

Nursery settle sessions

Anyone started their settle in sessions? Was our second session today scheduled for two hours. Dropped my boy and returned after after 1 hour 45 minutes. The nursery worker, bless her, was rocking him to sleep. They said the baby was crying for 1.5 hours. Not gonna lie that worries me a lot! How are your little ones doing? Have they settled smoothly? FTM here and a very anxious one

Nap routines

Do you guys have a strict nap routine? Up to this point I’ve been following babies cues more than anything but today he had a really long third nap so I’m currently having to try to stretch the last wake window until bedtime (last time I offered a short catnap and woke him up, her was absolutely furious and bedtime was a nightmare 😬)

He’s normally up around 6am (awake a bit earlier but I wait until he’s fussing just incase he settles), was on an average of 4 naps and bedtime at 7pm.

Today he woke from his nap at 3:20pm and I don’t think I can delay bedtime any later than 6:30 🫣

Just wondering if a stricter routine would help maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sleep help

How do you cope? My little girl will not be put down anymore. She will -scream- the entire way through the night if I am not stood rocking her or feeding her. The second I try and put her down she wakes up and will not stop screeching until she’s picked up again. I have had flu after flu this winter and i was hospitalised earlier this week because my body cant cope with having no rest and being unable to get better. Im so done with this I need sleep. I never wanted to do the cry it out method but even when I’ve had to because I literally didnt have the physical strength to pick her up, she would never stop crying. I tried making the bed warm, laying her on my t-shirt, white noise, lullabies, silence, pitch black then low lights etc etc, I am getting no sleep and its killing me.

Worst part is I have a husband but he has no regard for any of it. He’s never once helped me put her down or woken up to soothe her not a single time and shes almost 10 months. He knows how ill I am and how much I need rest. His excuse is that he goes to work. I was supposed to return to work a few weeks ago and I did go a couple days but then I have been put on bed rest by the doctors and not worked since because I physically can’t. I am so sick of being ill and he’s completely neglecting me and our daughter. How does anyone do this.

Sorry needed that rant
