I chose to get an IUD and this is my first time having one so I don’t know some of these things. My doctor told me I’d be cramping for up to a week. It’s been more than a week now and I’m still cramping, and at times I feel a shock if I move too fast. I also am bleeding like a heavy period. Is this normal? 🥲

I would go get checked out. I never had any pain/cramping after the first day, bleeding was never more than spotting and fast movement should have absolutely no effect on an IUD. It may be out of place.

The movement causing pain isn’t normal, I did have cramping for about the first month after insertion, but it wasn’t affected anything I did.

Hi I have had mine in a year now and I had a period for about 3 months, I rang the doctors and they said to get it checked out, so I went to a clinic and they said they couldn’t see anything wrong etc. The bleeding finally stopped, however I do have a period every month

The movement causing pain isn’t normal. Go get it checked. Cramping and bleeding can happen on the copper coil for a few weeks.

I would defo go get it checked, it sounds like it's not quite in the right place, I've never had cramping for more than 24hours after a IUD has been fitted and I hadn't had children before having them fitted (I've had two in 11 years)

Everyone has a different experience with IUD’s and just like all of the medical choices we make as women there are risks and some people are fine and others are not :( I had the copper IUD in for only 2 weeks and it was an absolutely horrible experience and I am still dealing with the consequences 4 years later. But I know lots of people who have had an IUD and been completely fine. It just depends on what type and how your body tolerates it. But being in pain is NOT normal and don’t let the doctor convince you that it is. Please go and get checked and advocate for yourself! Speak up, be direct, ask questions and it’s ok to voice your concerns. ♡ Sending you all the best luck and hope you’re able to find answers and relief !
