So 3 months ago we moved to Canada and made some friends the same age whom we've met quite a couple of times and we and the kids are getting along really well. But now we're starting to wonder because when we meet there's never any kind of physical contact happening.. especially between the guys it feels weird to us to not even shake hands or whatever? The girls hugging? Some insight into Canadian etiquette would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone’s different but most people will give a quick hug when greeting friends. A handshake may feel too formal? Maybe they are unsure what you are comfortable with due to being new to Canada? I’d “make the first move” as they say lol open your arms for a hug and likely you’ll get one back.

I've always felt awkward giving someone a hug, not that I dont want to. I love giving/receiving hugs, but I feel like im trying to hard or something when I do 😅

I usually hug all my friends and air kiss the cheeks haha
