Migraine.

Hi all, I am 29 and have suffered with migraines every year since I was 16 apart from the years around where I was pregnant with my girls. (I have a 12 month old and an almost 4 year old). So my last migraine was late in 2023.

The migraines started back again on 5th January, but differently this time I was showing stroke symptoms so my husband called 999 and I was taken to A&E where they confirmed it is a migraine, since then I have had a migraine every day with no stroke symptoms.

The medication the hospital prescribed me wasn’t working and by the 9th I went to my GP who prescribed me preventative medicine, it made the migraines less painful and not last as long and on 12th and 13th I had no migraines at all but on the 14th they came back in full force and have been horrible every day since! I went to the GP yesterday who said my blood pressure is now low and they don’t know if it’s from the medication so they can’t prescribe me anything else at the moment or increase the dosage and I just need to drink more water (like common sense!!)

I also have epilepsy so the medication they can provide me is limited!

My partner works shift work of 4 days on and 4 days off so he’s been fantastic in looking after the girls the past 4 days and letting me rest but he’s back to work tomorrow, we live over an hour away from all our family and friends so I’m extremely worried about how I’m going to handle the next 4 days with the girls and what coping measures I can do ?

My partner has asked work if he can take his 4 days on as holiday, but with such short notice they can’t approve it and we can’t afford right now to miss 4 days off pay!

I’m really looking for advice on things I can do to help my headache with 2 young kids ? what if I’m in the middle of a migraine when it’s lunch time how am I suppose to feed them

Mums would love your tips and tricks on migraines with kids… thank you and sorry for the long read

Hi lovely, I’ve suffered with migraines since I was 8 years old and when I was 15 they pretty much stopped and I’ve had a few since. When I was pregnant with my first I had lots towards the end and then some more when he was around 18 months which then fizzed away. I am 30 weeks and have had quite a lot - maybe around 20 since around 25 weeks, but just the aura and no headache really. I’m hoping it’s just a pregnancy thing that will
Go away once baby is here! X

I’ve chronic migraine and go throw cycles where it gets worse. Like you I have bad a recent uptick. I have a 2 yr old and his dad is great but some things we do to make life easer and limit stress. Have quick easy to prepare meals. Cook in big batches to reheat or have grab and go options. Low energy activities and I will admit my son may watch more tv than I would like but we do the best we can.

I’m had a very similar situation, chronic migraines nearly daily that went away during pregnancy. The culprit was GLUTEN! I had a cardiologist mention it as she was testing me for POTS. A sensitivity (not just celiac) can cause inflammation which we know is a cause of migraines! My symptoms went away when pregnant because pregnancy lowers your immunity, less fighting means less reaction. I was completely blown away! It took about 2 weeks to really notice I was feeling better and now at 7 weeks I feel so alive compared to before! I tell everyone because something so simple saved my life!

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
